What you will be doing

 

We are looking for a Human Resource Generalist to support the day-to-day operations of the SARGENT Human Resources Department. Responsible for tactical HR support including but not limited to HR policy, programs, benefit administration, and general HR functions to a unionized manufacturing plant as well as associated shared service entities. 

As the Human Resource Generalist, you will display your excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships across the business and influence desired results. You will embrace a fast paced work environment to meet challenging assignments while delivering superior support to key stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Support the SARGENT Manager, Human Resources in implementing HR policies, programs, and other HR functions.
  • Onboarding activities post offer stage through new hire orientation.
  • Assist in recruitment efforts and talent acquisition initiatives. 
  • Maintain employee personnel files in conjunction with Federal/State law and take ownership of timely filing of employee paperwork. 
  • Monthly headcount and HR reporting.
  • Work with the site Safety Manager and applicable managers on workers compensation investigations, administration, and claims.
  • Maintain and administer SARGENT benefit programs, including group health, 401K, disability, life insurance and workmen’s compensation.
  • Administer Union Pension program for company employees and retirees.
  • Work with external 3rd party providers to manage benefit enrollments and changes while driving employee Self Service model.
  • Respond to employees and retirees with questions on benefits and HR items.
  • Provide support to both employees and HR team in benefits and HR administration. 
  • Administers FMLA and STD leave requests.
  • Create queries, standard reports, and ad hoc reports to provide data for a variety of internal reporting requirements and HR projects and activities.
  • Back-up HR department if Manager, Human Resources is out of the office and administer “first line” HR support in his absence.
  • Ad-hoc and special projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

What we are looking for

 

  • BS Degree with 5+ years of Human Resources experience.
  • Good working knowledge of benefit/retirement programs, workers compensation, recruitment, and HR administration.
  • Experience with SAP Success Factors is a plus.
  • Utmost attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • High degree of accuracy.
  • Exceptional people skills and be able to interact with employees at all levels, as well as vendors and suppliers.
  • Very detail focused and ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Self-starter and results oriented
  • Strong computer literacy, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be flexible, service-oriented and have a strong sense of urgency.
  • Manufacturing experience desired.
  • Union/Collective Bargaining experience is a plus.
