Firmware QA Engineer III

We are seeking a skilled and motivated QA Engineer Level to join our Access Egress Hardware Team. As a QA Engineer, you will play a crucial role in advancing our CI/CD practices and ensuring the quality and reliability of our firmware and embedded systems. You will work closely with Firmware Engineers, DevOps Specialists, and Solution Architects who design and integrate our products. This collaborative environment will provide you with the opportunity to shape the future of our product lines, driving innovation and excellence in everything we do. This position will be reporting directly to the Firmware Team Lead and will sit onsite full-time in New Haven, CT.
What you will be doing
- As an embedded software/firmware developer you will be working on next-generation Digital door Lock products developing embedded firmware applications in BLE, Zigbee, WiFi, and other network technologies.
- You will work with internal and/or contract firmware developers and architects involved in design and system architecture discussions, hardware analysis, and application design.
- Programming and debugging the code, writing automated unit test scripts on features developed/integrated, working with co-developers in code review, code optimization, power management, etc.
- Collaborate with the hardware team during design, development, and integration.
- Participate in code review process, unit testing, feature integration work, and assist team workers with best coding techniques in building best embedded firmware applications.
- Work within a Scrum Team to collaborate on design.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
- Must hold 3+ years of hands-on experience in the field.
- Strong embedded systems knowledge.
- Proficient with C, RTOS, Git, and Jira.
- Experience in design, development, and testing complex, multi-threaded embedded IoT applications, and communication protocols via I2c, SPI, UART, and others.
- Specializing in optimizations for code size, execution speed, memory usage, task scheduler and interrupt controlling, exception handling, and power management.
- Demonstrated experience in completing tasks independently.
- Mentor junior engineers.
