We’re expanding our Access Egress Hardware Team, seeking to a hire an Electrical Hardware Engineering Technician to join us on this journey. This position will sit onsite full-time New Haven, CT.  

 

What you will be doing 

 

As a key member to the Hardware Electrical Engineering team, this role is dedicated to providing comprehensive support for laboratory operations, equipment, and activities. Collaborating closely with engineers, this individual will contribute to the design, construction, and testing solutions for diverse technical challenges.

 

  • Execute testing, configuration, and programming processes on electronic assemblies under the guidance of the engineering team.
  • Conduct experiments and investigations with the supervision of the engineering team.
  • Build and maintain hardware platforms for development teams.
  • Ensure Electronics lab equipment tools are in a state of accessible readiness.
  • Track the disposition and facilitate the calibration of department test equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of consumables, supplies and lab test equipment.
  • Generate project, task and regular time-based reports to document results, status, and progress.

 

What we are looking for

 

  • Electronics Assembly or Testing Experience- must have a solid understanding of electronics and electronic manufacturing principles.
  • SMT Soldering Experience- must be proficient in building and reworking dense and delicate electronic assemblies.
  • Harnessing and Wiring Experience- must be skilled in the proper use of wire preparation and termination hand tools.
  • Metrology- adept at using electronic measurement tools, understanding readings, and identifying sources of error.
  • Reading and Interpreting Engineering Documentation- familiarity with schematics and assembly drawings.
  • Ability and willingness to work between New Haven and Berlin, CT locations based on changing project needs and priorities.
  • Ability to self-direct and report project statuses.
  • Knowledge of ESD control, best practices, and protocols.

 

Preferred Skills

 

  • Altium / CAD experience and proficiency
  • Experience working without direct supervision, setting priorities.
  • Education or certification supporting work in electronics including but not limited to, Associate of Science, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science and Engineering OR Electrical Computer Engineering.
