Applications Engineer EAC OEM

Job Summary
This person is dually responsible for both engineering and field support. The employee will primarily support field sites contracted through ASSA ABLOY Professional Services. Additionally, in-depth product support will be provided to 3rd party developers in their efforts to integrate the ASSA ABLOY Intelligent Locksets into their software platform. Further responsibilities include the training of support staff and field support of the product.
Duties and responsibilities
- Facilitate the integration efforts of our OEM partners by fielding their questions on protocol usage and purpose as well as troubleshooting their errors.
- Work in a self-directed way with support from senior staff so as to quickly respond to the development challenges that each OEM encounters.
- Work in concert with our OEM partners, certified integrators, regional employees, and national staff to support complex field deployments
- Perform certification testing for our OEM partners and report those results to the interested parties in ASSA ABLOY
- Provide product training to the OEM’s customer support staff for their position as the first line of support for the integrated products.
- Exhibit the skills and patience necessary to represent ASSA ABLOY to end users, channel partners, and OEMs with confidence.
- Deliver excellent customer service to both external and internal customers.
Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems including Windows 7, 8, 10, Server 2008 R2, Server 2012.
- Ability to read and write simple SQL statements (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE)
- Experience with MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or other database platforms
- Understanding on how network firewalls work.
- Ability to set up and troubleshoot a Wi-Fi network.
- A basic understanding of what ZigBee is.
- Good working knowledge on how web services platforms work.
- Excellent customer service skills and experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience in troubleshooting access control systems
- Knowledge of contactless card platforms and formats
- Proven ability to work in a self-directed manner as well as working to share responsibilities within a team.
- Possession of a valid passport.
- Qualification and willingness to travel without restrictions both domestically and abroad.
- Ideally knows some coding without using an AI to write scripts – Python, bash, etc.
Working conditions
The employee will be based in a home office and will be expected to travel extensively. Some months of the year might involve 75% travel. At times, spontaneous and unplanned travel might be required. The employee should live near a convenient airport in the United States.
