Material Planner
Material Planner
As a Material Planner you will utilise an ERP System (Microsoft Dynamics AX) to ensure timely availability of materials to support production plans by reviewing MRP outputs, managing supplier communication, and resolving material availability risks.
You will be responsible for optimizing production scheduling to ensure smooth and efficient order flow. You will work closely with various departments (sales, purchasing, logistics, and production) as well as external subcontractors to align production capacity with demand. Additionally, you will analyse data and report to management to drive continuous improvements.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Review & Action MRP Outputs:
- Daily review of Planned Purchase Orders in AX.
- Convert and firm planned POs as needed.
- Adjust confirmed delivery dates based on supplier input or constraints.
- Supplier Coordination & Follow-Up:
- Contact suppliers to confirm delivery timelines and resolve issues.
- Actively monitor open POs for delays or quantity discrepancies.
- Log and escalate late or partial deliveries.
- Material Availability Management:
- Own the material readiness for assigned items to support planned production orders.
- Cross-reference PRDs and POs to ensure alignment of delivery vs. need dates.
- Identify and act on any potential shortages in advance of production week.
- Exception & Alert Handling:
- Monitor and resolve AX material planning alerts (Action Messages) (e.g., expediting orders).
- Use AX’s Net Requirements and Pegging features to analyse shortages.
- Propose alternative actions (e.g., expedite, split delivery, substitution).
- Collaboration with Production Planning:
- Provide production planners with daily updates on critical or late components.
- Attend production planning meetings to align material and capacity plan
- Data Accuracy
- Ensure PO lines have accurate inventory dimensions, delivery dates, vendors.
- Assist in updating or analysing item-specific procurement parameters (lead times, safety stock, etc.)
Desired Profile & Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, industrial engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in production planning, supply chain, or a similar role.
- Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar) is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Strong analytical skills to make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, formulas) and preferably Power BI for reporting.
- Knowledge of Lean principles or continuous improvement is an advantage.
Language Requirements
- Fluent in Dutch and English (written and spoken) – mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of French is highly recommended.
