Maintenance Technician

Norshield, an ASSA ABLOY brand, is growing and to support that growth, we are adding a Maintenance Technician to the team. This would be an onsite role base out of our manufacturing facility located in Montgomery, Alabama.

What would you do as our Maintenance Technician? 

You’ll play a vital and hands-on role in maintaining and repairing equipment across the facility. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventive maintenance, and champion continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and maximize reliability ... all while keeping safety and efficiency front and center. 

You would also: 

  • Maintain, repair, and modify machinery and equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation. 

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and PLC-based control systems.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC machines (mills, lathes, routers, etc.).

  • Dismantle, inspect, and reassemble complex machinery to identify and correct root causes.

  • Fabricate and replace parts using lathes, milling machines, grinders, presses, and saws.

  • Set up and maintain jigs and welding programs; calibrate and align equipment, sensors, and controls.

  • Conduct inspections and maintenance during scheduled plant closures to prevent unplanned downtime.

  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action Plans (CAPA) to drive long-term solutions.

  • Maintain detailed maintenance and lockout/tagout records in compliance with safety regulations.

  • Manage spare-parts inventory and request supplies to support daily operations.

  • Safely collect, store, and manage waste oils, greases, and other materials.

  • Recommend improvements to enhance machinery performance, safety, and productivity.

  • Keep work areas organized, clean, and compliant with all company and safety standards.

 

The Skills and Experience you need: 

  • 3+ years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics.

  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting.

  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  • Electrical/electronic and metal fabrication experience (qualification or certification preferred).

  • Working knowledge of brake presses, punch presses, roll formers, and shears.

  • Ability to perform precision measurements and basic math functions.

  • Creative problem-solver who can pinpoint complex issues and develop effective solutions.

  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

  • Clear communication skills (fluent English).
