Norshield (an ASSA ABLOY company) is looking to add a Buyer to our Team! This position will be based on-site out of our Montgomery, Alabama manufacturing facility.

What would you do as our Buyer?
You will be an integral part of a small team that will be responsible for procurement of materials and services.
You will also:
- Procure materials, supplies and services required to support daily production requirements and operations of the facility.
- Initiate RFQs, issue purchase orders, and perform necessarily follow up to ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies and a high level of supplier performance.
- Collect and analyze data to draw conclusions about supplier performance, trends, and opportunities to leverage spend across the organization.
- Troubleshoot invoice discrepancies and perform root cause analysis to reduce number of invoice/pricing errors.
- Assist with assigned daily, month-end and year-end reports as required and gather information for management as required.
- Identify and implement cost savings initiatives; develop accountability with suppliers for year-over-year results.
- Conduct periodic review of supplier performance and action item follow up.
- Monitor Key Performance Metrics and improve performance against targeted goals.
- Identify new suppliers as well as develop new existing suppliers.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Actively participates in providing a safe and harmonious working environment for all employees.
- Assures compliance with federal, state, local and corporate governance policies, regulations and laws, AADG programs and policies and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct
What we are looking for:
- High school degree or GED equivalent. Degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain or related area preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a purchasing role.
- CPM or APICS certification would be a plus.
- Previous working knowledge using a MRP system and technology tools such as e-auctions.
- Possess excellent negotiating, follow-up, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience in a LEAN manufacturing background is preferred.
- Knowledge of industry best practices within the MRO space.
- Comfortable working in an office / manufacturing environment.
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal customers and suppliers.
- Ability to multi-task and handle tasks or projects with competing priorities.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite. Specifically Excel with ability to analyze data utilizing various formulas and Pivot Tables.
