ASSA ABLOY Door Controls Group in Monroe, NC is the North American Center of Excellence for Door Motion Control products. Primarily sold under the Norton and Rixson brand names, we have manufactured and distributed mechanical and electro-mechanical door closers, low energy door operators, concealed door closers, and various accessories related to door motion control from this location for more than 60 years. 


We are seeking a Quality Control Technician with a passion for making quality their highest priority while working between Quality and Operations teams to ensure continuity in maintaining quality products for our customers.

What will you be doing?  Principal Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Perform supplier produced part evaluations (PPAP process) and reporting
  • Perform internally produced part evaluations (IPAP process) and reporting
  • Perform receiving inspection on parts as required
  • Perform gauge calibration and calibration tracking
  • Assist Test Engineer and product testing as required
  • Evaluate and track nonconforming material as required
  • Comply with all safety regulations and policies
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices
  • Follow ISO procedures
  • Other duties as directed by Quality Supervisor or Manager



What skills we are looking for in the ideal candidate?

  • Minimum of two years of experience in Quality Technical role understanding PPAP and IPAP processes.
  • Minimum of two years of experience using and understanding GD&T, and CMM equipment
  • Minimum of two years of experience reading and understanding blueprints
  • Minimum of two years of experience correctly using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, plug gauges, ring gauges
  • Exceptional mechanical ability
  • Good computer skills including using Microsoft Excel, Word, Access
  • Can do attitude
  • Good communication skills
  • High school diploma, or GED, with a minimum of 2 years work experience in a manufacturing atmosphere



What skills are preferred in the ideal candidate

  • Experience programming CMM
  • Experience calibrating calipers, micrometers, height gauges
  • Experience using Optical Comparator
  • Experience using hardness tester
  • Experience using surface profile measurement device
  • Experience using spring tester
  • Experience understanding GD&T
  • Basic electrical experience
  • Associate degree in a technical field with a minimum of 5 years work experience in manufacturing as a quality technician
