Production Superintendent– Monroe, NC

Reports to:

Operations Manager

 

Position Description
The Production Superintendent oversees the day-to day production activities associated with the manufacturer of automatic pedestrian doors.  While this position is responsible for supporting the work of others, it also requires coaching, resolving issues and serving as a link between subordinates and upper management at the facility.  Additionally, the Production Superintendent will guide and train employees in business processes, practices, policies and procedures.  It requires being well-versed in processes under the role’s responsibility and will be results-driven and focused with the goal of ensuring that operations are carried out productively to ensure profitability and sustainable growth. 

 

Major Areas of Responsibility
Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Align with the Operations Manager, Supervisors and Team Leads to ensure the safety of all plant operations, associates and equipment.  Commit and support all safety procedures and policies.  
  • Set goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company’s plans and vision and communicate them to subordinates.
  • Organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Receive complaints and resolve problems.
  • Maintain timekeeping records.
  • Pass on information from upper management to employees and vice versa.
  • Prepare and submit performance reports.
  • Oversee the employment experience of subordinates.
  • Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
This position requires the following essential knowledge, skills and abilities in order to satisfactorily fulfill the role:

  • High school diploma or equivalent or 3+ years of experience in a similar position.
  • Proven 3+ years of experience to manage more than 10 subordinates at production floor. 
  • Technical understanding with CNC machinery, broad industrial tools, saw, milling, drills, etc. 
  • Technical understanding with a hands-on approach.
  • Excellent oral, writing, interpersonal, communication skills; team oriented.  Must be able to take complex, technical information and translate it into every day, understandable language.
  • Use analytical thinking to introduce new innovations to production processes.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Highly motivated, dependable, and energetic self-starter who takes ownership and can drive change through innovation.
  • Ability to communicate and motivate associates in a positive manner.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment in order to meet deadlines.
  • Analytic and investigative mindset dedicated to continuously improving processes.
  • Extremely organized and attentive to detail; Ability to objectively review, understand and organize data; ability to work under minimal supervision. 
  • Focused attention to detail, analytical & inquisitive with high standards for quality and accuracy
  • Intermediate literacy (Microsoft Office Suite)

 

Physical Demands
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear.  The majority of the time will be standing, walking and directing associates in the factory.  There are instances where the employee will sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

 

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.  The noise level in the work environment is primarily moderate to loud.

Required PPE is safety glasses, hearing protection and steel toe shoes.
