ASSA ABLOY Door Controls in Monroe, NC is searching for a Product Manager who will be responsible for the management, development and growth of Norton Rixson world-class, door controls product lines. The Product Management role includes all aspects of product management, new product directions and prioritizations, minimum viable product analysis, customer needs and user profiles, market segmentation, sales and profit optimization, and rationalization of legacy products.
The Product Manager is a key member of a multi-functional team, reporting directly to the General Manger, and will represent the voice of the customer and the organization in the data-driven execution of product vision. Through collaboration and guidance, working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The goal for this role is to maximize the value of development though definition and prioritization of features to ensure alignment with customer needs and organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Business, Engineering, Sciences, Marketing or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in product management, technical sales, technical product support, product marketing, data science, and/or mechanical engineering is preferred.
- Knowledge of door hardware, door closers, or door operators beneficial.
- Familiarity with product development processes and design.
- Ability to conduct financial analyses and present decision-making criteria.
- Strong written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to understand, participate in, and interpret technical requirements, specifications, standards, and industry articles.
- Computer skills to include standard MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Customer focused skills to include Voice of Customer exercises and capable to deliver professional customer training and technical presentations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage minimum viable product definition, stages, and launches.
- Analyze market conditions and understand requirements regarding new products, improve existing products and end-of-life products
- Define features and functions of segment specific products, solutions and services based on market requirements
- Lead new product development and introduction with the goal of delivering unique benefits and superior value to customers
- Can independently lead OEM, minor transformation, or already developed SKU NPD Introduction based projects and can co-lead larger development NPD projects with the NPD Engineering Manager & staffed technical project leaders.
- Define and report on key metrics to evaluate and drive improvement for segment revenue and margins
- Manage and coordinate product, solution and service market introductions and guarantee adequate monitoring of objectives and defined success factors
- Translate customer and market needs into market requirement documents (MRD) in order to validate system requirement specifications (SRS), which are developed by engineering and R&D for product development. This includes translating customer and partner research, competitive intelligence, trends, economic signals for the definition of product strategy and documenting requirements.
- Create competitive analyses based on lab and in field test/reference of competitive products for benchmarking purposes.
- Conducting business case and feasibility analysis for strategic product development and new product introductions, upon which company decisions can be made for funding on go/no-go decisions
- Evangelizing new products, solutions and services within the company and guarantee internal departments are trained and equipped to deliver on the new offering
- Ensuring that products are within optimal price margins and align with requirements
- Develop the initial product forecast of new product introductions
- Work with key stakeholders to align with corporate strategy and strategic product and solution roadmaps that exceed customers’ expectations and offer greater customer and partner benefit at lower product cost
- Strategically launch, track, and manage product line for time-to-volume and time-to-profit
- Product life Cycle management for the segment roadmap by regular reporting and managing the financial product performance and driving successful portfolio decisions
- Ensure technical and regulatory compliancy on all product lines
- Pro-actively manage product beta programs to gain further market experience through channel as well with end users
- Act as the interface on product requirements to product development and outside development partners (i.e., Business Development and other Product Management).
- Participate in defining and prioritizing the product backlog.
- May perform Product Owner tasks such as reviewing and writing user stories.
This position requires 20 % travel and fieldwork including international travel, employee must possess or be able to acquire a valid US Passport.
