HR Director- Sales & Service

 

ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, the world’s largest manufacturer of automated doors, high performance doors, residential doors and dock systems is seeking candidates for HR Director, North America, for our Pedestrian Door Solutions Business Area.  This position can be based out of our Monroe, North Carolina Corporate office.

 

The HR Director, North America, will serve as a strategic business partner to executive and operational leadership, providing direction in HR strategy and operations across 39 U.S. branches and 7 Canadian branches. This role supports approximately 800 employees and plays a key role in shaping a high-performance culture that advances technician retention, leadership development, and organizational growth. 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Work with HR team to develop and administer various human resources initiatives, plans and procedures for all company personnel.
  • Proactively takes responsibility directly with vice president, district manager, sales managers and operational managers in branches to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters, recruiting and retention.
  • Lead HR operations, including compensation and benefits, employee relations, talent acquisition, and performance management.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures; performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost effectiveness, information activities program, and cash flow.
  • Partner with talent acquisition and operational leaders to align workforce planning with business demand.
  • Partner with Safety Coordinator to drives the safety/risk management/workers compensation effort for operations, auto liability and ensures safety meetings are a priority.
  • Analyze and report on HR data and KPIs to support informed decision-making and operational performance.
  • Support and guide the development of field-based leaders and managers to foster stronger leadership capabilities and accountability.
  • Champion employee engagement and retention strategies tailored to the technician workforce.
  • Lead HR workstreams for mergers and acquisitions, ensuring smooth integration of people, processes, culture, and systems.
  • Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

 

 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Minimum of five (5) years of HR Management experience. Excellent written and oral communications skills, strong presentation skills and the ability to quickly adapt.
  • Strong background in field-based service or technician-driven environments highly desired  
  • Proven ability in Safety and Worker’s Comp administration, Talent Development, Talent Acquisition, Succession Planning and Organization and Change Design. 
  • The ability to build strong relationships on all levels and in all cultures. 
  • Ability to travel frequently within the continental U.S. and Canada (up to 30% travel). 
  • Experience in successfully managing, mentoring and motivating teams. 
  • High level of accountability and ownership. 
  • Strong leadership skills, excellent analytical and creative problem-solving abilities, influence management, and a hands-on approach to business will be important competencies. 
  • This person will be a self-starter who possesses an innovative approach to business along with a strategic mindset with the ability and willingness to dig into details when needed to fully grasp business challenges. 
  • The candidate will have the well-developed interpersonal and collaborative skills appropriate to a senior level manager, and will exhibit the potential to assume increasing levels of responsibility in the future. 
  • Relationship builder – must have the ability to pull people together and to rally the organization around common goals and common culture. 
  • Experience in a global, well-regarded company and a track record of continual career progression will also be a key consideration.
