Associate Mechanical Design Engineer

This position is part of a small, collaborative team responsible for developing and maintaining innovative products for the automatic door industry. As an Entry-Level Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work closely with experienced engineers to learn and contribute to the design process. You’ll assist with research, design, prototyping, testing, documentation, and support for transitioning products into production. Our goal is to create practical, high-quality designs that deliver value to customers while ensuring efficient manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Support research efforts and gather feedback from internal stakeholders.
- Assist in creating and refining designs for new products or updates to existing ones.
- Help build and test prototypes in the engineering lab.
- Participate in executing test plans and documenting results.
- Prepare basic documentation for sourcing, operations, and manufacturing.
- Provide support during the industrialization phase to bring designs into production.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: Internship or co-op experience in product design or engineering preferred.
- Familiarity with 3D and 2D design software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Comfortable working in an engineering lab or shop environment.
- Basic hand tool skills; exposure to CNC or machining is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); basic Excel formulas required.
- Strong interest in learning about materials (aluminum, steel, glass) and basic electronics.
