Industrial Engineer

Amarr, a part of ASSA ABLOY – the global leader in opening solutions - is seeking a talented and motivated Industrial Engineer to join our dynamic manufacturing team at our Mocksville, NC plant and help us optimize our processes and systems.

 

As an Industrial Engineer at Amarr, you will be responsible for analyzing and improving manufacturing processes, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring the highest quality standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions that drive productivity and cost savings.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Direct and facilitate the Lean Improvement Process using techniques such as Kaizen, 5’s, TMP, Gemba, PFEMA/FEMA, Kanban, timed studies, value stream mapping, and Poka-yoke to enhance Operational Excellence (OPEX).
  • Lead Lean culture to achieve continuous improvement strategy goals and objectives. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify initiatives and establish priorities.
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Lean tools and techniques for the management staff.
  • Identify opportunities to improve team member knowledge base. Help coordinate training, education programs, and mentoring relationships, to include one-to-one coaching and consulting with OPEX Leaders.
  • Apply tools and perform statistical analyses for OPEX projects using tools and statistical methods to include Pareto, Control Chart, Histograms, Check Sheets, Cause and Effect Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, knowledge of distributions, probabilities, range, standard deviation, correlation analysis, Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control, measurement systems, etc.
  • Utilize data-driven, structured problem-solving tools, including Six Sigma to improve process capability, reduce variation and optimize performance.
  • Implement appropriate visual controls to ensure lasting results, including standard work, improvement opportunity walks and process audits. Provide educational support for key performance indicators (KPI’s) to ensure full workforce comprehension.
  • Design optimal layouts for product/material flow, and to meet customer capacity (working closely with manufacturing engineering and management).


What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical preferred), or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience with Lean Methodologies, both application and implementation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present to large groups.
  • Ability to read/interpret documents (engineering drawings, maintenance instructions, process procedures, etc.).
  • Ability to write work instructions and/or procedures.
  • Experience working with MS Office and CAD software.
  • Knowledge of ergonomic principles.
