Sales Representative

We are looking for a detail-oriented Sales Representative in Ontario to lead our sales and grow the business. You will foster a “safety first” culture through awareness, training, and accountability. The Sales Representative will maintain a strong working knowledge of all industry standards and practices as well as the company’s products and services. To be successful, you should display a strong sales-minded attitude as well as excellent communication skills. You should develop and maintain strong positive relationships with customers and third-party vendors.

 

 

Responsibility:

  • Maintain and grow market share throughout assigned territory
  • Strive to increase net profits in all product lines
  • Direct and coordinate promotion of products and services through direct sales to end-users. 
  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and past experience.
  • Superior communication skills are required.  Being responsive and timely to customer requests and expectations are mandatory. 
  • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders and talks with customers in person or by phone.  Includes cold-calling.
  • Display or demonstrate product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes the features and benefits for the entire product catalogue.
  • Manages the entire sales process including quotation, presentations, initiation customer setup and prepares sales contracts and order write up for won projects.  This will require coordination of other departments; however, responsibility lies with the sales manager to follow proper sales protocols.
  • Generates reports for the Direction of Sales  (Forecast, Call Reports and Expense Reports).  Part of each day is spent on communication
  • Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers when required.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts.
  • Travel as necessary to effectively perform job and close orders
  • Perform product demonstrations for potential customers
  • Attain annual targets set by Company
  • Operate within budgeted expense limits
  • Promote the company’s operational visions, values, and goals
  • Participation in training or other team activities to support ongoing continuous improvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, or his/her designate.
  • Reasonable changes could be made to duties when required
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent selling technique
  • Highly motivated
  • 5+ years selling industrial goods or related products
  • College Degree (4 Year school) preferred
  • Microsoft Office, Outlook and other related computer skills
  • Must understand the target audience within assigned territory
  • Ability to adapt and maintain performance in changing work environment
  • Effective interpersonal / communication skills required
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to effectively manage conflict, foster good team and inter-department relations

 

Work Environment

  • Must be able to travel up to 75%
  • Must be willing to work independently, with flexible and additional hours as needed
