Press Operator (2nd Shift)

     

 

Summary:

Set-up and operate machines such as punch presses, gang presses, power brakes, shears, rolling machines, or other machinery on standard, semi-standard, special and complex work.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet expectations of each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.

Experience:

  • Previous manufacturing experience, preferred

Other:

  • Able to read and write legibly
  • Able to read blueprints, shop drawings, and work from sketches
  • Excellent knowledge of shop mathematics, work-in-process, and finished product
  • Excellent manual dexterity and coordination
  • Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs. for approximately 60% of the time
  • Able to work on own initiative without immediate supervision
  • Able to adjust and use computerized gauging
  • Ability to attain knowledge of metric dimensions
  • Able to easily communicate with all levels of team members.
  • Ability to work shifts up to 12 hours and more than 40 hours per week as scheduled.

Job Duties & Requirements (included but not limited to the following):

  • Set-up machines and check set-ups made by others.
  • Set-up and operate variety of power machinery to form materials of a special type (ie. Profiles) where frequent and complex set-ups are necessary.  This includes making frequent program adjustments utilizing custom frame press brake software (Shopgrid and Cincinnati), mathematical skills, and processing knowledge of custom frame brake press operations.
  • Trains and instructs other operators in changeovers, trouble-shooting, and material handling
  • Works from blueprints, routing tickets, and architects’ drawings if applicable
  • Must be able to mathematically calculate gauging and set-ups when processing special work and make adjustments accordingly
  • Move material into and out of work area
  • Maintain necessary records for documentation
  • Check quantities, size and types of tolerance for part being run
  • Operate small tools such as tape measure, caliper, gauges, wrenches, test equipment
