What would you do as our Accounting Manager - SMP?
As the Accounting Manager, you will oversee and execute the daily accounting operations for Security Metal Products (SMP). In addition to general accounting duties, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger, managing account reconciliations, and supporting forecasting activities. This role plays a critical part in maintaining reliable financial data and ensuring the smooth flow of financial information throughout the organization.
You would also:
- Update and maintain the general ledger file and associated reports and verifying accuracy.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Hands on involvement in the monthly accounting close process including journal entries, account reconciliations and analytical review of the monthly operation results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.
- Manage production of the budgets and forecasts and operating metrics.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive reconciliation processes for all balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, sales, payments, receivables, freight, intercompany accounts, and accruals.
- Conduct regular reviews of reconciliations to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and ensure proper documentation and support.
- Perform variance and trend analysis to identify areas of improvement or concern.
- Provide backup for invoicing, payables, and payroll as necessary.
- Provide financial analyses as needed for capital expenditure projects.
- Perform other duties and special projects as required.
- Actively participate in providing a safe and harmonious working environment for all employees.
- Comply and enforce compliance of all state and federal regulations, Company standards and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or related degree required.
- MBA or CMA/CPA is a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Proven supervisory ability.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- Strong analytical and interpretation skills. Focus on analysis, as well as transactional detail
- Finance experience within a manufacturing environment would be a plus.
- Basic knowledge of JD Edwards and Oracle Hyperion Financial Management would be a plus.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize projects under tight time deadlines.
- Must be willing to travel as needed with a valid passport.
