What would you do as our Shipping Lead?
You will be responsible for coordinating the daily functions of picking product and preparing it for shipment, as well as coordinate the daily functions of receiving product and ensuring proper placement for purposes of improving pick times and inventory accuracy. This position includes ensuring the finished product and quantity of items are correctly picked and shipped according to customer specifications. The lead performs a variety of duties including picking, packing, and leading the shipping team.
You would also:
- Manage orders for picking and loading.
- Coordinate workload and flow of loading trailers.
- Direct and train others, enforce all work rules and safety rules, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment correctly.
- Pick stock material from warehouse as required by customer order.
- Bundle cartons, package and label material as necessary and move material to staging area.
- Inspect material for quality and accuracy.
- Plan and build necessary blocking to ensure material is secure in trailer.
- Use necessary material handling equipment to accomplish tasks.
- Proficient with sending emails.
- Offer guidance of individuals in the event of poor performance or behavior.
- Monitor, exercise, and encourage good housekeeping (5S).
- Assist the shipping department with some daily decision matters.
- Assist the shipping department in setting and obtaining strategic goals and objectives for the area.
- Ensure quality and accuracy of production and workflow in the particular area.
- Monitor attendance
- Monitor strict adherence to safety practices.
- Assure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate governance policies, regulations and laws, AADG programs and policies, and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct
The Skills and Experience you need:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Previous leadership experience in a warehouse setting.
- Preferred experience with forklift operation and warehousing practices.
- Proven ability to adhere to safety rules and requirements.
- Strong safety record in forklift operation.
- High attention to detail.
- Demonstrated capability in organizing and maintaining warehouse order.
- Skilled in picking products accurately and safely.
- Proficient in reading and writing legibly.
- Competent in analyzing orders and loading materials safely.
- Effective communication and training skills, with the ability to direct others respectfully.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work overtime on short notice.
- Good mathematical skills.
- Ability to work independently without immediate supervision; self-motivated.
- Capable of walking and standing throughout the entire work shift.
- Strong motivational and interpersonal skills.
