Indirect Category Manager

ASSA ABLOY has just begun recruitment efforts for an Indirect Category Manager. This is a group-level role that has been created to support the Door Group and our 18 facilities located through-out the US, Canada and Mexico.

 

ASSA ABLOY is a global leader in opening access solutions. Our Group focuses on the manufacturing of steel doors and frames within the commercial market catering to such industries as hospitality, healthcare, aerospace, defense, sporting venues and education.  

 

This is an on-site position that can be based out of one of our following locations: Curries in Mason City, Iowa or Ceco Door (both ASSA ABLOY companies) in Milan, Tennessee.

 

What would you do as our Indirect Category Manager?

This position is responsible for developing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements for purchases across the ASSA ABLOY Door Group. In addition, this position is responsible for driving improvement to, and establishing the overall strategy for indirect spend. You will drive a culture that supports collaboration between all of the ASSA ABLOY Door Group companies/brands, as well as a hyper focus on investigating problems, identifying solutions and driving the projects to completion.

 

You would also:

  • Lead, support, and assist in supplier qualification and selection, develop and review commercial agreements, and ensure Company’s intellectual property and indemnity interest are protected and enforced through contract compliance.
  • Develop and negotiate commercial agreements in line with strategic initiatives, including strong considerations for safety, environmental and innovation. Ensure delivery terms are properly established, and ensure contracts are maintained in a central repository, renewed, and executed in a timely fashion.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to evaluate new technologies and suppliers and develop procurement strategies that reduce total cost of ownership and improve safety, quality, availability, service, and innovation.
  • Provide support and training related to procurement processes.
  • Manage and develop strategies for indirect spend across AADG.
  • Work cross functionally to develop best practices and standards
  • Own the relationship with strategic suppliers within assigned categories and develop accountability for continuous improvement activities.
  • Analyze spend within assigned categories and develop processes that minimize and prevent rogue purchases.  
  • Ensure ASSA ABLOY Sourcing Guidelines are followed and maintained throughout the new supplier selection, introduction and sourcing processes, including considerations for ASSA ABLOY Terms and Conditions, NDA, and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business or related field is preferred
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a procurement or supply chain role
  • Previous experience with contract development, review, and negotiations.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and a matrixed corporate structure preferred.
  • Highly skilled at developing processes and continually evaluating opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to make strategic decisions based on the total cost of ownership for the organization.
  • Possess excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to present to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle tasks or projects with competing priorities
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc)
