Curries (an ASSA ABLOY company) is building out the infrastructure of the Operations Team! This is a newly created Operations Director role that will be based on-site out of our Mason City, Iowa facility.

 

ASSA ABLOY is a global leader in opening access solutions. Our Group focuses on the manufacturing of steel doors and frames within the commercial market catering to such industries as hospitality, healthcare, aerospace and defense, sports stadiums and educational markets.

 

What would you do as our Operations Director?

The Operations Director will lead a team of functional managers and supervisors in 1) developing and deploying an effective operations strategy and ensuring organizational alignment, 2) providing and developing technology know-how in the leading metal fabrication techniques available to maintain competitive advantage, 3) providing strong leadership to the operations team with a heavy emphasis on employee involvement and team building. 

 

You would also:

  • Support the establishment of manufacturing policies in the areas of Lean Manufacturing, materials usage, capacity planning, production scheduling, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, and plant performance measures.
  • Ensure compliance with Company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA, safety, inventory management, as well as complete and on-time delivery while managing cost.
  • Lead daily meetings including, but not limited to, Gemba, 5S, and Safety.
  • Participate in kaizen events, personally leading physical inventories, etc.
  • Engage the manufacturing team to drive continuous improvement.
  • Direct implementation and execution of manufacturing policies and practices throughout the organization with an emphasis on process automation and machining process technology.
  • Oversee operations budget to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements.
  • Build, develop, and manage operations leaders to ensure employee involvement.
  • Recommend and implement strategic changes in manufacturing and operations strategy.
  • Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, workforce, wages, and salaries.
  • Ensure compliance to safety regulations by implementing safety programs, conducting audits, tracking performance, and setting and executing operational goals for YOY improvements.
  • Believe in the value of coaching, mentoring, and teaching at all levels of the organization.
  • Participate in Door Group activities and partner with other locations to develop better methods, tools, etc. to drive common and consistent improvement across the group.
  • Actively participates in providing a safe and harmonious working environment for all employees.
  • Assures compliance with federal, state, local and corporate governance policies, regulations and laws, AADG programs and policies and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, or related field. Master’s degree in a related field would be a plus
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of operational leadership experience with a demonstrated track record of accomplishing goals and metrics through your team
  • Previous experience implementing LEAN practices.
  • Possess the ability to be both strategic and tactical.
  • Previous experience demonstrating the success of improving employee satisfaction and providing work life balance.
  • Willingness to work off-shift (weekends or holidays) to promote and engage team and show appreciation.
  • Previous experience and/or accountability of a Profit and Loss (P&L) statement.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle tasks or projects with competing priorities.
  • Possess excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
