Senior Technical Support Officer - Specification

About the role
We are looking for a Senior Technical Support Officer – Specification to join our Perth-based team. This is a senior, hands-on technical role for someone who enjoys solving complex specification challenges, working closely with architects and consultants, and mentoring others.
You will be a subject matter expert in door hardware scheduling, providing high-level technical support across complex projects while ensuring compliance with Australian Standards, the Building Code of Australia, and client requirements. You’ll also play a key role in developing capability within the specification team and supporting strong project outcomes.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the development of complex door hardware schedules for large and multi-stage projects
- Ensure specifications comply with the Building Code of Australia, Australian Standards, and local regulations
- Translate architectural and client requirements into compliant, practical, and cost-effective solutions
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex queries and project challenges
- Provide expert technical support to architects, architectural representatives, distributors, and internal teams
- Deliver CPD sessions to architects in line with accreditation requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the project lifecycle
- Coach and mentor junior Technical Support Officers, supporting consistent quality and capability uplift
- Contribute market and competitor insights to support sales planning and forecasting
- Maintain accurate project, client, and specification records in line with internal processes
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience delivering complex door hardware schedules across commercial, institutional, or high-security projects
- Strong working knowledge of the BCA and relevant Australian Standards (e.g. AS1428, AS1905)
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documentation
- Solid understanding of mechanical and electromechanical locking systems and access solutions
- Experience managing multiple specification projects concurrently
- Confidence engaging with architects, builders, and consultants at a senior technical level
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to mentor and uplift others
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using specification software, CRM systems, and digital tools
