The Senior Hardware Design Engineer will be responsible for a wide range of engineering activities covering all stages of the engineering lifecycle , from concept through to volume production and certification.


This role will be on site working  alongside  a small team in the lab with equipment  for investigations

The Position: 


The Senior Hardware Design Engineer will work as part of a multi-disciplined engineering team liaising internally with software and mechanical engineers to ensure that the products are designed in a cohesive manner to the highest possible level of quality, as these products are sold to Blue Chip customers around the globe.


The primary objective of this role is to design readers for the TSL handheld RFID business unit of HID Identification Technologies (IDT). 


You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to develop electronic solutions that successfully meet with the overall product requirements.




As our Senior Hardware Design Engineer , you’ll support HID’s success by: 


  • Creating analogue and digital circuit design and analysis
  • Using RF circuit design, having proficiency with altium preferred
  • Undertaking detailed component research, evaluation and selection Schematic capture and PCB Layout design
  • Designing for EMC
  • Developing testing methods for electronic products
  • Managing a small team and distribution of tasks to other engineers and production staff Taking new designs from prototype through to volume production
  • Reliability and regulatory testing of products (EMC, electrical safety), including submissions to external regulatory bodies
  • Investigating of field and production issues and implementation of corrective actions
  • Collaborating with product management to provide technical input and guidance for roadmap decisions and implement the results
  • Performing any other duties as deemed necessary for product management.

Education and/or Experience  


  • Minimum 7-10 years technical product design experience and related formal education.
  • An understanding of RFID technologies with a focus on the RFID reader and tag business, including technical understanding of LF, HF, UHF, BLE.
  • Understanding hardware development processes and supply chain.
  • Project management experience and education of Agile Scrum is of advantage.
  • Knowledge of Altium experience
