This is a newly scoped General Manager position to lead the Lisburn site and overall business performance, with full P&L accountability. The role provides operational and commercial leadership with clear ownership of delivery against agreed targets and strategic priorities. This is not a statutory director / legal entity Managing Director appointment.

Operating model change: Commercial and operational strategy will be increasingly set by the central team; success will depend on full alignment, collaboration and disciplined execution locally.

ASSA ABLOY Security Doors (formerly Powershield Doors Ltd) is based in Lisburn and manufactures high-performance steel doors and windows, including security, fire-rated, acoustic and ballistic door sets. The site provides an end-to-end offer for architects, specifiers, contractors and facilities management companies—supporting specification and delivering design, manufacturing, installation and maintenance.

ASSA ABLOY Security Doors is part of ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions EMEIA Door Business Segment.

Key priority: deliver strong business development across the whole UKI and materially increase intragroup sales, expanding the Lisburn portfolio through cross-selling and specification of products from Mercor Doors and/or Malkowski Martech. In parallel, maximize the value, revenue and margin of the core door business, while strengthening the company’s position as a leading provider across the UK.

The General Manager leads day-to-day operations and commercial execution for the Lisburn site, overseeing sales, service, production and delivery to agreed business goals. The role establishes and continuously improves processes and controls that grow sales channels and revenue streams, protect customer service and quality, and manage risk through strong business ethics.

Purpose of the Job:

Reporting to the SVP & Head Door Business EMEIA, the General Manager is accountable for the Lisburn site’s operational and commercial performance, including full P&L ownership. The role delivers agreed financial targets through strong execution of commercial strategy, operational excellence, and effective leadership of cross-functional teams.

Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Drive intragroup sales growth as a primary commercial objective across the whole UKI, including cross-selling and specification of products from Mercor Doors and/or Malkowski Martech.
  • Strengthen and grow the business across UKI, including development of selected international opportunities as aligned with the central team.
  • Define and execute the site business plan, delivering KPIs including sales, margin, order intake, EBIT/ROS and production efficiency.
  • To define and execute the commercial and sales policy, including go-to-market approach, key account coverage and sales effectiveness
  • To manage and develop an effective team
  • To own the budget and forecasting process and lead cost control and optimization activities to deliver the business unit P&L
  • Drive continuous improvement of end-to-end processes (commercial, operations and supply chain), improving safety, quality, delivery and cost KPIs.
  • Contribute to regional strategy and translate priorities into clear local plans and actions.
  • Build strong cross-company collaboration across the region to share best practice and deliver intragroup opportunities.
  • Provide timely and accurate management reporting, forecasts and performance insights as required.
  • To work in close alignment with the central and regional management teams, ensuring collaborative planning and consistent execution of commercial and operational strategy

 

Education, Work Experience and Personal Qualities

  • Master’s degree in technical discipline
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in a commercial environment, including at least 5 years in a senior general management / business unit leadership role with operational responsibility
  • Practical knowledge and experience in project business
  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with excellent planning and prioritization.
  • Good analytical skills and an understanding of financial metrics and KPI’s
  • Experience with leading teams
  • Strong result orientation and commitment to success
  • Able to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to build engagement and teamwork across functions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Highest level of Business Ethics
  • Confident user of MS Office and data analysis tools to support reporting and decision-making.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
  • Competence in digitalizing commercial processes (e.g., quotation/configuration tools, CRM, pipeline management and sales reporting).
