Budget and Cost Accountant
Are you looking for your next career move? An opportunity exists for a Budget and Cost Accountant within ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions, UK & Ireland Door Group. This role is based in Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
What would you do as our Budget and Cost Accountant
Reporting to the Finance Director, our Cost and Budget Accountant would capture, monitor and challenge construction costs and project budgets in support of the overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish product standard costs which will drive contract budget setting
- Review & update costs in line with feedback from Procurement, Operations & Commercial teams
- Investigate budget v actual variances and follow up on corrective actions
- Establish individual activity and/or material budgets from secured tenders and allocate to appropriate manager responsible for the contract budget
- Review and update contract budgets as scope of works and specification develops, reallocating budgets where necessary
- Ensure accuracy in cost capture for direct materials & labour for each project
- Monitor, review and challenge contract spend to ensure it is within budget
- Provide regular analysis on performance of individual Contract/Job
- Work with the Procurement, Operations and Commercial teams to ensure all costs are captured, challenged and efficiencies maximised.
- Work with relevant teams to support the monthly, quarterly and annual forecasting process with respect to contract profitability and margins
- Identification and reporting of relevant KPIs
- Develop existing IT systems to support improved cost management, seamless integration and deliver continuous improvement
- Utilise PowerBI for improved reporting to all stakeholders
- Assist the Management Accountant with the month end close and reporting process
- Month End reporting responsibility for Materials, Labour and Stock.
The Skills and Experience you need
- Hold a qualification in Accountancy (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Have costing experience, preferably in manufacturing and/or Construction
- Strong IT skills, including PowerPoint and Excel to an advanced level
- Systems and process development
- Preferably have experience of working with Microsoft Dynamics AX or NAV and PowerBI
- Have the ability to build strong relationships and influence individuals/teams at different levels across the organisation
- Have excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
