Head of Product Development, Product Unit Security Entrance Control and Revolving Doors
Are you ready to bring your innovative perspective and creative skills to ASAA ABLOY Business Segment Pedestrian (BSP) within the ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems? Join our team in Landskrona, Sweden or Ettenheim, Germany and enjoy a collaborative culture that empowers you to build a career you can be proud of.
What you would do as our Head of Product Development - Product Unit Security Entrance Control and Revolving Doors
As Head of R&D for Security Entrance Control and Revolving Doors, you will shape the future of ASSA ABLOY’s access solutions within the Pedestrian Door Segment. Based across our innovation hubs in Landskrona, Sweden and Ettenheim, Germany, you will lead a multidisciplinary engineering organization covering hardware, firmware, and mechanical development.
In this strategic leadership role, you will define and drive the R&D vision and roadmap, translating business strategy into innovative, market-leading products. You will oversee the full product lifecycle — from early concept and technology exploration to industrialization and launch — while ensuring alignment with customer needs, global standards, and commercial priorities. A key focus will be to build a strong culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence, while exploring emerging technologies such as IoT and AI to create the next generation of secure entrance solutions.
The role reports to Head of Security Entrance Control and Revolving Doors, and works closely with senior stakeholders across product management, manufacturing, quality, and global ASSA ABLOY divisions to drive innovation, performance, and long-term business impact.
You would also:
• Set and execute the long-term R&D strategy and product roadmap for revolving doors and security entrance control solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals, market needs, and future technology trends (e.g., IoT and AI).
• Lead, inspire, and develop a multidisciplinary international R&D organization (hardware, firmware, and mechanical engineering) across key innovation hubs.
• Own and drive the full product development lifecycle — from early concept and design through testing, industrialization, and successful market launch.
• Ensure all products meet relevant safety, security, and quality standards (such as ISO, CE, EN, UL), while maintaining high technical performance and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with product management, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers globally to deliver commercially strong, customer-focused, and competitive solutions.
The skills and experience you need
We are looking for someone who has:
• 5+ years of experience in a senior R&D leadership role within industrial technology, automation, access control, or a related product environment.
• Strong technical background in engineering (mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or similar), with understanding of systems that combine hardware, software, and electronics.
• Proven ability to define and drive R&D strategy, product roadmaps, and complex product development lifecycles from concept to market launch.
• Experience working in international, cross-functional environments, collaborating with product management, manufacturing, quality, and commercial stakeholders.
• Strong leadership, communication, and business acumen, with the ability to balance innovation, customer needs, compliance requirements, and commercial results.
This role requires a strategic and inspiring leader who can create clarity in complex environments and translate vision into actionable direction. You combine strong leadership capabilities with a solid technical foundation, bringing a deep understanding of firmware development and complex systems. Your background – ideally within system integration or mechatronics and preferably supported by an advanced degree in Mechatronics – enables you to confidently engage in in-depth technical discussions while maintaining a clear business perspective.
You are a strong communicator, able to bridge advanced technical topics with operational and strategic priorities, and to engage both technical experts and senior stakeholders. Through this, you build trust across teams, functions, and locations, ensuring alignment and shared direction. You bring a collaborative leadership style, make confident decisions in fast-moving situations, and balance innovation with structure and compliance. Most importantly, you take strong ownership for results — ensuring that new ideas are not only developed but successfully implemented and adopted in the business.
