We are seeking a knowledgeable and innovative Packaging Engineer to join the Baldwin team. Responsibilities include developing new product packaging concepts, collaborating with suppliers to refine designs and qualify robust solutions that meet Baldwin’s high standards of quality and craftsmanship. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • (30%) Designs and improves packaging for Baldwin products using a CADD system.  This would include all parts of the product packaging, cardboard, foam etc. Make 2D dimensional drawings when required which would include all dimensions, specifications and testing requirements that packaging components must meet to protect and display the product per CTQs.
  • (25%) Implement design and/or drawing changes to insure packaging is meeting all requirements. Communicate with other Engineers and suppliers for the project and work assignments.
  • (10%) Identifies and implements cost reductions relative to methods, materials, equipment improvements etc. Provides Packaging Engineer leadership to project teams. Creates packaging CTQs. Create packaging specifications. Create comprehensive test plans and evaluate design concepts to insure packaging will meet customer needs. Be the source expert for product packaging.
  • (30%) Write test plans for testing and evaluation of package designs for Baldwin products. Test plans to ensure the packaging will meet all customer CTQs and packaging design specifications. Evaluate and Test when required any all NPI product designs and Sustaining changes. Write design and test specifications to support continuous improvement of our packaging standards.
  • (5%) Support Cost Improvement sourcing projects by identifying savings and working directly with the manufacturing sites. Support Supplier packaging product moves. Propose and justify manufacturing improvement, new process, automation and cost reduction projects. Performs complex technical research and presents conclusions in a clear and concise manner based on organized data. Maintain and update all packaging specifications and standards including packaging specifications, test standards and design specifications as required.

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Other duties as required by supervisor.

 

Education and Experience Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Packaging Engineering with 1-3 years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering or Packaging Engineering.
  • Experience in a high volume consumer goods manufacturing environment preferred.

 

Required Skills

  • Expertise in the selection and application of sound engineering practices and principles to the design and development of high volume consumer products packaging.
  • In depth knowledge of materials, equipment, and processes required in the production of consumer packaging.
  • Creative, highly motivated self-driven individual with the demonstrated ability to independently complete complex engineering tasks. 
  • Solid organization, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to contribute within a multi-functional team environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD modeling and drafting - ArtiosCAD and/or Creo Preferable
  • Effective PC skills required, Excel, Word, Power Point MS Project.

 

Work Environment:

Working conditions are normal for an office environment.

 

Pay Range: $69,177-$101,460.

 

This “base salary range” is a reasonable estimate for this position at the time of posting. Pay within each range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, to primary work job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location. ASSA ABLOY conducts regular review of compensation ranges and therefore reserves the right to alter this range at any given time.
