Firmware & API Developer


We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic, and customer-oriented profile, with a proven Firmware & APIs development experience, to join a fast-moving and fast-growing organization, based in South East of France (La Ciotat)




In the context of roadmap or custom product development, the Firmware & API Developer is responsible for design, implementation, documentation, validation and maintenance of embedded & host software integration layers associated with our RFID hardware products. This includes development of Firmware in C/C++ on such platforms as microcontrollers or single-board computers, as well as development of low-level SDKs/APIs in Java/.NET enabling easy and seamless integration of our RFID hardware products within internal or third party software applications like distributed RFID middlewares.

  • Platforms : Atmel AVR, Espressif ESP32, Arm Cortex, linux-based SBCs.
  • Operating systems : FreeRTOS, Linux, Windows. Androïd is a plus.
  • Communication interfaces : SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth.
  • Communication protocols : TCP/IP, MQTT, Google Protocol Buffers, WebServices.
  • Development environments : PlatformIO, Visual Studio, Eclipse, Netbeans.
  • Source control & bug tracking : SVN, Git, Mantis, Redmine.
  • Programming languages : C/C++, Java, .NET.
  • HMIs : Background in simple HMI development is a plus.
  • Electronics : Background in general digital electronics is a plus.




Firmware & API development :

  • At early stages of product development, participates to the selection of the most appropriate computing platform together with other R&D team members.
  • Assesses detailed technical specifications and ensures their correctness and completeness against high level requirements.
  • Defines FW/APIs architecture with respect to objectives.
  • Develops corresponding firmware & APIs, ensuring proper handling of exceptional conditions and errors, as well as code readability, maintenability, testability and deployability.
  • Troubleshoots performance and functional issues.
  • Recommends improvements & optimizations.
  • Writes and executes test/validation plans.
  • Ensures proper documentation in compliance with company development policies and procedures.
  • Ensures proper source versioning and archiving.
  • Ensures proper bug tracking & resolution.
  • Ensures maintenance and implements evolutions all over product lifecycle.
  • Reports on status, progress, issues and risks to Project Manager.
  • Executes developments within defined scope, budget and schedule.
  • Other
    • Support to industrialization team in the process of productization.
    • Support to SW team in the process of integration within company’s RFID middleware.
    • Support to customers in the process of integration within their own software solutions.


Education and/or Experience         

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in the area of Computer Science required.
  • > 5 years experience in firmware development.  
  • > 2 years experience in low level APIs development.


Language Skills              

  • Fluent oral and written English.


General Computer Skills     

  • Microsoft Office.
  • Some knowledge in electronics CAD software tools is a plus.
