Summary

HID Global is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to be an integral member of the Manufacturing Engineering Team.  The Manufacturing Engineering is primarily responsible for production sustainability and new product introduction efforts, with a focus on production processes for electronic products and production verification testing and provisioning, writing processes and developing detailed work instructions. Also doing level 2 support for our Contract Manufacturers.

As our Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by: 

• Work in our PLM tool and raise ECOs/MCOs and maintain BOMs.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements in support of global production processes and yield improvements.
• Troubleshoot product functionality as related to tooling and / or process related issues.
• Assist in the design, fabrication, documentation and test of various electro-mechanical fixtures and test equipment (DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA).
• Support production line set-up (NPI) and the development of maintenance and calibration procedures with our Contract Manufacturers.
• Support Value Analysis/Value Engineering projects and workshops.
• Implement engineering changes to production parts or processes (at BOM and CM level).
• Implement lean Mfg. and continuous improvement techniques.
• Prepare reports - collecting, analyzing process test and capability data (yields, cycle times, trends, etc.).
• Setup production test and functional test in production.
• Do production relevant documentation such as e.g. work instructions, process flow charts.

Education & Experience

• 2-year degree from an accredited Tech School BSc/ MSc degree in Electrical and/or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Education or equivalent experience in electronic production (SMT, THT, COB)  is preferred.
• Education or equivalent experience reading, understanding or/and developing electronic circuities is preferred.
• High Level Programming Languages C, C++, Python is preferred but not required.
• Understand Communication Protocols (e.g., RS-232, RS-422, TCP, CAN, MODBUS, I2C) and IT Networks is preferred.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Ability to work from limited instructions and procedures.
• Knowledgeable in product testing and measurement methods/tools would be a plus.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and work instruction creation in addition to calibration and maintenance procedures is a plus but not required.
• Experience with RFID is preferred, but not required.
• Experience with Quality processes/tools (5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, …), is a plus but not required.

Language Skills            

• Ability to effectively communicate in the English language verbally and in writing.
• Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.

Computer Skills     

• Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Experience with electronic schematics, PCBA CAD tool is a plus.
• Experience on PC interfaces and Networks (LAN, USB, RS232, SPI, …) is a plus.
• Basic knowledge in C, C++, Python is a plus.

Customer Expectations

• Is able to manage several urgent topics in parallel and is able to priorities those to a certain level.
• Communicate in a clear and friendly way and set the right expectation to the Customer.
• Is able to give clear instructions in speaking and reading to our Supplier and Contract Manufacturers
• Has a basic quality understanding.

Work Requirements

• Up to 25% travel and fieldwork including international travel. Therefore, employee must possess, or be able to acquire, a valid Passport.
