Your Role in Keeping the Future in Safe Hands…
The Senior Director, Strategic Sourcing & Supply Chain, leads the end-to-end operations for Self Storage. This role owns the production environment, supplier strategy, global sourcing activities, supply chain continuity, quality governance, and operational excellence required to support Self Storage’s current and future growth.
This position ensures that all suppliers meet ASSA ABLOY standards, internal quality requirements, and total cost of ownership expectations while driving continuous improvement and enabling new product introductions. The role establishes global and local sourcing strategies, leads supplier negotiations, and ensures proper development and management of suppliers.
Key Responsibilities in your role…
The Senior Director is responsible for production capacity planning, warehouse and procurement operations, inventory optimization, and alignment with divisional sourcing and supply chain strategies. This individual plays a critical leadership role within Self Storage, enabling long-term scale, operational resilience, and quality performance across all products and suppliers.
Leadership, Strategy, & Oversight
- Develop long-term operations, sourcing, supply chain, production, and supplier quality strategies.
- Lead efforts to improve global supplier footprint, inventory positioning, and risk mitigation.
- Identify opportunities for scalability in alignment with Self Storage’s 5-year growth plan and AAGS strategic roadmap.
- Ensure adherence to internal and external regulations, including safety, quality, compliance, and sustainability requirements.
- Guarantee supplier compliance with ASSA ABLOY policies, including EHS, Supplier Code of Conduct, and Trade Compliance.
- Ensure quality governance across all operations, production processes, and supplier activities.
External Management
- Lead strategic negotiations with suppliers for Self Storage’s hardware, component, and service needs.
- Manage supplier performance, providing structured feedback, scorecards, and improvement plans.
- Monitor global supply markets and interpret market intelligence to influence sourcing strategies.
- Ensure global and local contracts are utilized and adhered to for sourcing and supplier quality management.
- Lead supplier selection, qualification, development, and lifecycle management.
Internal Management - Production & Operations
- Lead all production operations, capacity planning, forecasting, workflow design, and optimization.
- Ensure quality control, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions across production.
- Oversee SOP development, production KPIs, safety programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Internal Management – Supply Chain, Inventory, & Procurement
- Develop and implement sourcing and supply chain strategies aligned with divisional direction.
- Oversee all procurement activities, inventory management, cycle counting, and NetSuite accuracy.
- Lead annual productivity improvements (cost reduction, yield improvement, supplier efficiencies).
- Ensure cross-functional cooperation around material readiness for NPI/NPD projects.
- Provide annual budget estimates incorporating market inputs and sourcing strategy.
Internal Management – Supplier Quality
- Set and lead supplier quality performance standards and KPIs.
- Address supplier and internal non-conformances, ensuring accountability and timely resolution.
- Manage SQE processes, working with Division and Group resources.
People Management & Collaboration
- Lead a cross-functional team including production, warehouse, procurement, and quality alignment resources.
- Partner with HR to build organizational capability through coaching, skill development, and succession pipeline creation.
- Provide leadership in achieving design-to-cost targets for product development.
- Collaborate across Group, Division, and local Self Storage leadership to implement best practices and global sourcing strategies.
- Partner with Product Management and Engineering, to align production and sourcing strategies with product lifecycle needs.
- Work with Finance on cost structures, contracts, and budget management.
Experience Requirements (years of experience can overlap)
- 5+ years of experience in electronics or hardware manufacturing, production planning, quality, KPIs, and team leadership.
- 5+ years of experience managing suppliers, negotiations, TCO reduction, and supplier quality compliance.
- 5+ years of experience with ERP systems (NetSuite ideal), inventory optimization, forecasting, and cost-management initiatives.
