Senior Industrial Engineer
Purpose of the role:
To optimise the financial performance of the Roodepoort Manufacturing Plant through strategic projects, continuous improvements and a robust financial management system.
Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Financial Management System
- Ensure that product costing remains 100% (Material, Labour, Variable Overhead)
- Ensure that fixed overhead allocation and factory recovery allows for sound commercial decision making
- Embed and maintain a system for accurate budgeting and periodic tracking against budget
- Identify issues and opportunities related to operating expenses as well as balance sheet items
- Drive actions to optimise savings and cost avoidance
- Ensure accuracy of all master data driving financial reporting for factory products
- Ensure income statement accuracy for the factory (P&L)
- Ensure balance sheet accuracy for the factory (Inventory, depreciation)
- Support manufacturing manager and COO with pro-active and insightful financial reports
Transformational Projects
- Identify, prioritise and quantify transformative operational project opportunities.
- Develop robust business cases to ensure viability of projects and return on investment.
- Develop robust project plans to support delivery to planned due date.
- Manage project approval inputs and process including capital expenditure requests.
- Manage all resources required to deliver a successful project.
- Ensure tracking of benefits on savings tracking systems.
- Formally communicate project progress to all stakeholders
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for financial improvement through cost, quality or service level optimisation.
- Collaborate with operations team members to prioritise and implement viable opportunities.
- Ensure tracking of benefits on savings tracking systems.
Professional Qualifications:
Qualification Required:
- B.Eng or B.Sc Industrial Engineering (Strong evidence of financial management subjects will be requested)
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 Years experience in Industrial Engineering related role in a Manufacturing operation
- Solid understanding of product costing input e.g. BOM, routing, overhead absorption costing models
- Budgeting and business cases
- Advanced Excel and data analytics
