Senior Accountant

 

Purpose of the role:

The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring completeness, validity, and accuracy of financial information in the accounting and reporting systems in line with the ASSA ABLOY accounting manual and IFRS. Including oversight of accounts payable function. And the management and maintenance of inventory costing This entails keeping inventory data up to date, creation of new items and timeous maintenance of the associated costing information as required.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Financial Reporting and Accounting

  • Accounting, Tax & regulatory and financial reporting.
  • Month-end closure activities including journal processing and closure of subledgers
  • Compile and publish standard internal and group financial month-end reporting packs.
  • Reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts per group guidelines.
  • Monthly group and divisional ad-hoc and standard reporting.
  • Facilitating annual external audit.
  • Ensure statutory compliance for local SA legal entities.
  • Ensure compliance to Group standards and requirements (Internal Control Framework, External Business Representatives, Export Control, Transfer Pricing etc

 

Inventory Costing

Costing of inventory to ensure

  • Timeous and accurate maintenance of the costing system and BOMs
  • Report and analyze the profitability of manufactured and bought-in products

Monthly material cost update meeting with all stakeholders

 

Accounts Payable

  • Management of Accounts Payable function. This includes reconciliation review and payment authorisation.
  • Supervision of including supervise 2 creditors staff.

 

Payroll

  • Reviewing all payroll reports prepared by HR Administrator
  • Calculating and processing monthly leave pay provision
  • Ensuring timeous submission of payroll returns and payments to relevant authorities
  • Overseeing payroll projects (if applicable)
  • Payroll support

 

Fixed assets/CAPEX

  • Overseeing fixed asset register maintained by Financial Accountant
  • All Capex are loaded and monthly meetings scheduled

 

Other

  • Transactional bank signatory, including the review and release of local and foreign payments
  • Participating in forecasting and budgeting processes
  • Ability to interact with various departments including finance, commercial and operational departments.
  • Manage and comply with local, state and government reporting requirements and tax filings (Statistics SA and SARS Vat)
  • Develop and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • External audit process
  • Reviewing and loading of VAT prepared by Financial Accountant
  • Any adhoc tasks assigned by management.

 

Professional Qualifications & Experience:

 

Essential Qualification

  • Suitable BCom Qualification (Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field)
  • Minimum 5-year commercial experience, preferably in Manufacturing or FMCG.

 

Experience and Competencies

  • Corporate experience, and adherence to strict deadlines, formal reporting structures
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Costing methodologies.
  • HFM or Hyperion experience very advantageous
  • Microsoft Office suite with proficient Excel skill set is essential.
