Position Summary:

ASSA ABLOY is seeking candidates for a SCM Engineer – NPD position in the Engineering / Design & Development Department, based at our Jamnagar plant (Shree Mahavir Metalcraft Pvt. Ltd.).

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Manage material planning and inventory control to ensure uninterrupted new product execution & production flow.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to improve supplier performance in quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Monitor supplier schedules, follow up for timely deliveries, and address supply disruptions proactively.
  • Work closely with production, quality, design, and procurement teams to align supply chain requirements with project & business needs.
  • Optimize logistics and transportation planning to reduce lead time and freight costs.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and support audits for qualification and capability assessment.
  • Analyse data related to inventory levels, consumption trends, and material movement to support informed decision‑making.
  • Prepare and maintain documents such as purchase orders, material plans, and supply schedules.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean tools to improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Support NPD (New Product Development) activities by ensuring availability of prototype materials and components.
  • Track and report key KPIs such as OTIF (On‑Time In‑Full), Supplier Performance Index, Inventory Turns, and Material Variance.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in data interpretation and reporting.
  • Good communication, negotiation, and cross‑functional coordination skills.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain processes including procurement, planning, and logistics.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP).
  • Ability to evaluate supplier capacity, quality, and operational capability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Production Engineering, or Supply Chain Management with 2-3 years of work experience in relevant field.
  • Certification in supply chain (APICS, CSCP, or similar) is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, and other process improvement methodologies preferred.
