Position Summary:

ASSA ABLOY Shree Mahavir Metalcraft Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a dynamic and result-oriented Project Engineer – Manufacturing Excellence & Industrial Projects to drive capital investment projects, manufacturing expansion initiatives, automation deployments, and technology upgrades across the plant.

The incumbent will be responsible for the complete project lifecycle, encompassing concept development, feasibility assessment, budgeting, technical evaluation, supplier management, installation, commissioning, and successful project handover. This role plays a critical part in enhancing manufacturing capability, operational efficiency, safety performance, and overall business growth through the effective execution of engineering projects.

The position requires strong technical expertise, project management acumen, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with ASSA ABLOY's global standards of quality, safety, and operational excellence.

Role & Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead end-to-end execution of engineering and capital investment projects from concept approval through commissioning and operational handover.
  • Prepare comprehensive project proposals including technical specifications, budgetary estimates, return-on-investment (ROI) analysis, project schedules, and implementation plans.
  • Conduct technical and commercial feasibility studies for new machinery, manufacturing technologies, automation systems, and process improvements.
  • Develop detailed project timelines, resource plans, and milestone tracking mechanisms to ensure successful project delivery.

Technical Evaluation & Vendor Management

  • Evaluate equipment suppliers, technology providers, and contractors based on technical capability, quality standards, cost competitiveness, and project requirements.
  • Coordinate technical discussions, design reviews, risk assessments, and project progress meetings with vendors and stakeholders.
  • Manage Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), machine trials, validations, and buy-off activities.
  • Drive supplier performance to ensure adherence to delivery schedules, technical specifications, and contractual commitments.

Installation, Commissioning & Manufacturing Integration

  • Lead installation, commissioning, qualification, and start-up activities for manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
  • Ensure machinery performance, safety compliance, productivity targets, and operational requirements are achieved before project closure.
  • Coordinate seamlessly with Production, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, and Operations teams to facilitate smooth implementation and transition.
  • Support plant modernization initiatives through the integration of advanced manufacturing technologies and automation solutions.


Project Governance & Risk Management

  • Monitor project progress, budgets, timelines, and resource utilization to ensure efficient execution.
  • Identify project risks, bottlenecks, and deviations, implementing proactive mitigation strategies and corrective actions.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, technical records, drawings, change controls, and closure reports.
  • Present project updates, performance metrics, and recommendations to leadership teams and key stakeholders.

Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure full compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements during all project phases.
  • Adhere to statutory regulations, engineering standards, and company policies.
  • Promote Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Continuous Improvement, and Operational Excellence initiatives within project execution activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, energy efficiency, and productivity enhancement.

 

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, manufacturing processes, and automation systems.
  • Experience in machine installation, commissioning, and project execution.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Good project planning, vendor management, and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar CAD tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Graduate in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering with 3–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, etc).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Projects).
