Position Summary

 

The Manager – Surface finishing will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Grinding / Polishing, Electroplating & Lacquer operations. This position requires a strong understanding and hands on work experience in Grinding/ Polishing, electroplating, Electrophoretic lacquer & PVD processes on Brass, Zinc & SS  material . Should have good understanding of Equipment and troubleshooting techniques for these processes, as well as excellent management and leadership skills. The Manager – Surface Finishing will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety & environment regulations are met.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Grinding/Polishing, electroplating and electrophoretic lacquer department, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to production schedules.
  • To ensure daily, weekly and monthly production targets are met.
  •  To improve all the surface finishing processes and implement procedures to improve quality standards and customer requirements.
  • To oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of electroplating and electrophoretic lacquer equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • To Monitor and analyze production data & quality data to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications.
  • To Review and update standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance documentation to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • To Train and mentor electroplating, Lacquer & Grinding/Polishing technicians on  new  techniques, safety procedures, equipment operations, etc.
  • To Manage inventory of Consumables, chemicals, and critical components in Surface finishing departments.
  • To Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members, identifying areas for improvement and facilitating their professional growth.
  •  To Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in electroplating, implementing innovations as appropriate.

 

 

Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Strong knowledge of Electroplating, Electrophoretic lacquer and Grinding/Polishing techniques for various metals, such as Brass,  zinc, SS and copper.
  • Knowledge of PVD will be added advantage.
  • Experience in Automatic Electroplating plants will be preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electroplating equipment issues and handle maintenance activities.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate a team of technicians.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify process improvement opportunities and address quality-related issues.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, hazardous waste management, and environmental compliance applicable to Surface finishing operations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide clear instructions to team members.
  • Good Analytical skill

 

 

 

Education Qualification & Experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering /chemistry/ Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in managing Polishing, electroplating & lacquering operations.
