Position summary

As a key member of the GCSEA Operations Leadership Team, the Director, Industrial Planning & Manufacturing Operations is responsible for driving divisional industrial strategy, manufacturing footprint optimization, operational excellence, and manufacturing leadership development across GCSEA. The position combines three critical dimensions,

  • Lead GCSEA Industrial Planning programs, including Manufacturing Footprint Program (MFP), VA/VE initiatives, industrial layout optimization and productivity enhancement
  • Assume full Plant Manager accountability for AAAHV manufacturing operations, ensuring world-class performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People Development
  • Provide functional leadership, coaching and governance to plant leadership teams across the division, including leadership oversight of SF Plant Manager, ensuring alignment with divisional operational standards and strategic objectives
  • The role is expected to balance long-term strategic planning with day-to-day operational leadership while developing a high-performance manufacturing organization capable of supporting sustainable business growth throughout the division.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. AAAHV Plant Management Leadership

  • Assume overall accountability for AAAHV plant performance, including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People. Report the AHV scope to VP Operations Product Company Vietnam
  • Lead all manufacturing-related functions including Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance and Continuous Improvement.
  • Ensure achievement of annual operational targets and financial commitments
  • Establish a culture of operational excellence, compliance and accountability throughout the plant
  • Ensure manufacturing activities fully comply with EHS, legal and ASSA ABLOY operational requirements
  • Optimize production planning, inventory management and resource allocation to achieve customer service and delivery targets
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality and cost competitiveness
  • Promote customer-focused operations and collaborate with commercial teams to support business growth

2. SF Plant Management Leadership

  • Lead and mentor the SF Plant Manager and other manufacturing leadership team members. Report the SF scope to VP Operations Product Company China
  • Build leadership succession plans and talent pipelines for key manufacturing positions
  • Develop a strong manufacturing leadership community and standardized management practices in the plant

3. Operational Performance & Business Management

  • Own manufacturing budget planning, capital investment evaluations and operational financial performance
  • Monitor business KPIs including Safety, Quality, OTD (On-Time Delivery), Productivity, Inventory, Cost of Quality, Plant EBITDA Contribution
  • Conduct regular business reviews and establish corrective actions where required
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, Procurement, Engineering and Product Management teams
  • Provide performance updates and strategic recommendations to divisional executive leadership

4. Regional Industrial Planning & Manufacturing Footprint Leadership

  • Develop and execute the long-term industrial strategy for GCSEA, ensuring alignment with global operations and business growth objectives
  • Lead Manufacturing Footprint Programs (MFP) across the division, evaluating capacity utilization, factory expansion, automation investment and manufacturing network optimization
  • Establish divisional governance mechanisms for industrial investment projects and operational excellence initiatives
  • Drive divisional productivity improvement, capacity optimization and operational benchmarking across manufacturing sites
  • Lead annual strategic planning, capital investment prioritization and operational performance reviews
  • Develop and implement industrial roadmaps supporting future growth, digitalization and manufacturing transformation

5. The overall Lead of Divisional VA/VE and Cost Competitiveness Programs

  • Own the divisional VA/VE strategy and deployment framework
  • Identify and prioritize cost reduction, productivity improvement and process optimization opportunities across manufacturing entities
  • Establish KPI governance and benefit tracking mechanisms for continuous improvement projects

6. Compliance, Quality and Sustainability

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, environmental and safety requirements
  • Maintain and continuously improve ISO-based management systems
  • Lead sustainability initiatives supporting ASSA ABLOY ESG environments
  • Promote a strong culture of ethics, compliance, quality and accountability

ROLE EXPECTATIONS  

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above, Master’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Manufacturing, Operations Management or related disciplines 
  • MBA or Master’s Degree preferred

Selection criteria, Relevant Knowledge, and competencies

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive working experience in manufacturing operations and industrial management, minimum 8 years of plant leadership experience with P&L responsibility
  • Rich working experience in multinational and multicultural enterprise environments, familiar with global standardized industrial management systems and cross-regional business operation modes
  • Proven success driving manufacturing footprint, operational excellence, lean transformation or productivity improvement initiatives
  • Experience in multinational manufacturing organizations and matrix environments.
  • Experience within electro-mechanical, hardware, smart products or industrial manufacturing sectors is highly preferred

  • Proficient in office software and business data analysis tools (Excel advanced functions, PowerPoint, data visualization tools, project management systems), capable of independently completing strategic analysis reports and high-level presentation materials.
  • Strong self-initiation, result-oriented management awareness, strict time management and project control capabilities, able to ensure the accurate landing and high-quality delivery of strategic plans and key projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability and pressure resistance, capable of coping with complex cross-regional business scenarios and solving difficult industrial operation and planning problems.
