Logistics Manager
Job Summary
The Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing all logistics activities for an installation-heavy, project-based docking equipment business. This role ensures the timely, cost-effective movement of materials and finished equipment from U.S. facilities to job sites, distribution centers, and customers, primarily supporting cross-border shipments into Mexico. The Logistics Manager plays a critical role in aligning transportation, warehousing, and delivery execution with construction schedules and installation timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Project-Based Logistics Planning & Execution
- Manage logistics execution for project-based, installation-driven deliveries aligned with construction milestones.
- Coordinate phased, sequenced, and partial shipments to support complex installation schedules.
- Partner with project managers, installation teams, and operations to ensure materials arrive installation-ready.
- Support job-site deliveries to active construction environments, including warehouses and manufacturing facilities.
Transportation & Carrier Management
- Manage domestic and cross-border transportation for oversized, heavy, and engineered docking equipment.
- Select, manage, and evaluate carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers.
- Negotiate freight rates and service agreements to balance cost, reliability, and service levels.
- Monitor transit performance and proactively resolve delivery disruptions.
Cross-Border Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate with Export and Export Compliance teams to ensure compliant cross-border execution.
- Support customs brokers with accurate shipment data and timing requirements.
- Monitor border transit performance and escalate issues impacting project timelines.
Warehousing, Packaging & Load Planning
- Coordinate with manufacturing and warehousing teams on staging and shipment readiness.
- Ensure proper crating, packaging, labeling, and load planning for safe handling and installation.
- Optimize consolidation and sequencing to reduce handling and damage risk.
Risk Management & Issue Resolution
- Anticipate and mitigate logistics risks tied to installation schedules and site constraints.
- Lead resolution for late deliveries, damaged shipments, or incorrect sequencing.
- Develop contingency plans for critical-path equipment.
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
Reporting & Cost Control
- Track logistics KPIs including on-time delivery and freight cost per project.
- Support budgeting and forecasting for project-based logistics expenses.
- Identify opportunities to reduce freight costs and improve delivery reliability.

Required Qualifications
Education
Certification or degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field
Experience
- 5+ years of logistics or transportation management experience
- Experience supporting project-based or installation-driven operations
- Experience managing heavy, oversized, or engineered equipment shipments
- Exposure to U.S.–Mexico cross-border logistics preferred
Technical & Professional Skills
- Strong understanding of transportation modes and carrier management
- Experience coordinating logistics tied to construction schedules
- Familiarity with TMS, ERP, or logistics systems
- Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects
- Professional-level Spanish preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in docking equipment, material handling, or construction products
- Dealer-installed or contractor-installed delivery models
- Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders
- Lean or continuous improvement experience
