IT Infrastructure AIX TechOps Engineer
The IT Infrastructure TechOps Engineer will be the lead Engineer in the design and build out of Datacenter technologies. Additionally, will be the primary support of Windows and Linux (RedHat) servers running on VMware, VxRail in a 24x7x365 environment. Will also be primary support for UNIX / AIX servers and SAN infrastructure. Candidate will support security initiatives, network operations, and the database infrastructure as needed. Will interact with developers, DBAs, other system administrators, managers, and customers to resolve technical issues. Experience supporting SAP HANA environments a plus!
This is an onsite position based in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Day to day overview for Datacenters within the Americas Division, including Vmware Hosts, Virtual Machines, SAN, FC Connectivity, and Infrastructure hardware.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, upgrade, customize and maintain AIX systems while ensuring overall system performance and availability.
- Monitor AIX systems, analyzing problems and performing research and maintenance to prevent reoccurrence.
- Test and document systems prior to deployment.
- Perform regular revalidation of system settings to ensure compliance with policies and needs.
- Use scripts to automate routine tasks.
- Be available to respond to the needs of a 24x7x365 environment.
- Create, modify, and delete account information. Evaluate access rights and permissions.
- Document system requirements, configurations, procedures, changes, incidents, and problem resolutions.
- Mitigate security breaches in progress.
- Backup and restore systems using NIM, mksysb, and Rubrik Backup solution.
- Work with vendors for all aspects of system maintenance including annual maintenance renewals, hardware, and software support.
- Adhere to all change control policies.
- Perform any additional duties as defined by IT leadership.
Education and Experience Profile
- Associate degree in Computer Science or related field is required with a bachelor’s preferred
- Experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
- At least one industry certification such as VMware, Linux, AIX, etc.
- Additional certifications may be accepted in lieu of experience.
- Specific knowledge of IBM P-Series Servers and AIX operating systems
- Experience supporting enterprise applications and technologies in a Global Organization
- Prior experience in ITIL framework and processes is necessary.
- Prior experience with ServiceNow is a plus.

- SAN experience (LUNs, NPIV)
- Scripting (ksh, perl, etc.)
- Windows PowerShell experience a plus
- Monitoring and managing servers with a 24/7/365 level uptime
- Hardware and software inventory management
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans.
- Project Management experience within large, complex systems
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Values teamwork and works well with others.
- Problem resolution and attention to detail
- Experience supporting database environments, preferably HANA.
