Technician, Designer/Drafter
The Designer/Drafter will primarily perform component modeling and production drafting duties based on Sales Order input. Development of new products that are derivatives of products with which the Designer/Drafter is already familiar, based on team interaction with the marketing and sales department, may also be required. He / she will produce and maintain manufacturing instructions via detailed Bills of Materials and CAD drawings while continuously improving the quality and robustness of the products and manufacturing processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform production drafting, load information into MRP, and produce detailed shop drawings, as required by new Sales Order input.
- Design and develop new derivative products (based on existing products) with input from marketing, manufacturing, and financial departments.
- Modify the designs of existing products to meet the needs of a changing market.
- Establish and maintain a project report for all design or redesign projects including changes made and implementation schedule.
- Support manufacturing by creating drawings and BOMs required to accurately build the product.
- Resolve issues plant personnel may have with existing engineering drawings and BOMs.
- Utilization of 2D and 3D CAD to produce detailed production drawings and drawings for sales proposals.
- Regularly help to implement ideas to improve product quality, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
- Generation, maintenance, and improvement, of BOM’s in support of production designs
- Simplify and standardize product designs and manufacturing processes.
- Work with customer service to propose and build products with special modifications.
- Follow the requirements for maintaining the integrity of the engineering documentation control system.
