Mechanical Engineer
Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will support the engineering, design, manufacturing, and standards implementation for steel yard ramps and the broader portfolio of steel products. This role partners closely with engineering, manufacturing, and operations to ensure products and processes are safe, repeatable, compliant, and continuously improving.
Engineering & Design
- Design and develop steel yard ramps and other steel products using Autodesk Inventor
- Create and maintain fabrication drawings, weldments, assemblies, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Support engineering changes across multiple steel product lines
- Ensure designs meet structural, safety, and manufacturability standards
Manufacturing & Process Engineering
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for steel fabrication
- Create and maintain BOMs and routings
- Provide engineering support to manufacturing and resolve production issues
- Collaborate with production teams to improve efficiency and quality
Standards Implementation & Compliance
- Develop and implement engineering and manufacturing standards
- Standardize drawings, BOMs, routings, and work instructions
- Support welding, quality, and fabrication standards
- Maintain internal documentation and best practices
ERP & Data Management
- Maintain item masters, BOMs, routings, and labor standards within the ERP system
- Ensure data accuracy for planning, inventory, and costing
- Support ERP process standardization
Continuous Improvement
- Apply Lean Manufacturing principles
- Participate in Kaizen and standard work initiatives
- Analyze production metrics to drive improvements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
- 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in steel or metal fabrication
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor
- Experience with ERP systems, BOMs, and routings
- Knowledge of steel fabrication and Lean Manufacturing
