ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems is looking for a Product Safety Manager (f/m/d) in our Pedestrian Door Solutions business area. The business area focuses on the efficient flow for pedestrians and accessibility to buildings. With a complete portfolio of pedestrian door solutions under the ASSA ABLOY brand and an extensive service and maintenance offer, we help customers ensure reliable, safe and energy efficient operations. You will be part of a team (20 persons in total, 4 dedicated to Products Safety) and report to our Product Development Shared Services Manager in Sweden.
 

What you would do as our Product Safety Manager

As a Product Safety Manager in the Product Development organization, your primary role is to ensure that products meet regulatory requirements and safety standards. You oversee 3rd party tests in DACH countries, requiring fluency in German. Responsibilities include managing and informing about tests and approvals, providing plans and support for employees and projects, ensuring compliance with product declarations, participating in standardization committees, and traveling up to 90 days per year. Your role involves daily communication with global colleagues, driving projects, and delivering results within your area of expertise.

You would also:

  • Thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks.
  • Solid technical knowledge and understanding of product/process design.
  • Machinery risk assessment experience.
  • Experience with machinery safety and the functional safety of machinery controls.
  • Worked notified bodies, such as TÛV.
  • Worked with training of internal organization on how to interpret standards.
  • Worked as a member of a technical committee.
  • Accustomed to creating certification plans for product projects.

 

The skills and experience you need
We are looking for someone who:

  • A master’s or bachelor’s degree in science and approximately 5 years of work experience (including three years of experience with TÜV, KRIWAN, RI.SE, or UL, and German standards).
  • Deep technical understanding and experience with software-, electronics-, and/or mechatronic-based products is advantageous. The ability to align legal requirements with technical solutions and engage in standardization committees/working groups, along with collaboration with 3rd party test labs, is crucial.
  • Pragmatic, thorough, and communicative individuals are preferred, demonstrating a strong drive, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to collaborate in a multi-functional global project organization.
  • Proficiency in English is essential, as it is our corporate language and fluency in German. We expect candidates to have a high level of professional proficiency, enabling them to speak, read, and write effectively when interacting with international colleagues.
