Eden Prairie is one of HID Global’s engineering centers of excellence for Secure Identity Solutions with a focus on ID card printer design and development.


As our Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by: 

  • Managing New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from design and development to production.
  • Supporting R&D in HID new product solutions and technology.
  • Creating software, firmware, and other electro-mechanical systems to facilitate the efficient production of products.
  • Utilizing printed circuit board (PCB) design tools to create functional test fixtures used in production.
  • Supporting production efforts at global Distribution Centers, Contract Manufacturers and Suppliers.
  • Driving continuous improvement and standardization efforts to improve yields and reduce costs.
  • Approving and overseeing the design of manufacturing processes and hardware for new product introductions.
  • Collaborating with Electrical, Mechanical, and Firmware Engineering to define, develop, and document production test fixtures.
  • Participating in Value Add, Value Engineering (VA/VE) activities and cost reduction efforts for all Printer products and processes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills especially for generating and discussing work instructions.
  • Experience developing Windows applications using C# programming language.
  • Experience developing applications that consume data from various data sources like MS SQL, Oracle, MS Excel.
  • Working knowledge of source code management and configuration.
  • Working knowledge of Arduino microcontrollers.
  • Design and develop electronics and software for functional test fixtures used in a production environment.
  • Must be very process driven/focused.
  • Must be a flexible, decisive, and proactive problem solver.
  • Must be a champion of change.  Capable of proposing & implementing new ideas regarding simplification and improvement to business processes.
  • Must be a strong communicator and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple priorities at once.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be proficient at conflict resolution.


Your Experience and Education include:     

  • Zero (0) to 3+ years recent Electronic Design and Programming Experience in a production environment desired.
  • Demonstrable experience and fundamental understanding of object-oriented programming using C/C++/C# and/or Java as well as relational database management systems like Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Previous knowledge or experience programming chips, flash memory, and RFID tags.
  • Familiarity with development IDE’s like Visual Studio, Atmel Studio, etc.
  • Knowledge of online issue tracking tools like JIRA, Helix ALM, etc.
