The PACS business is highly visible and one of our most significant portfolios within HID Global. The PACS products include smart cards, mobile access and identifications, software, services, and controllers for physical access control.
You would be joining as a firmware engineer where you will get to work with the teams in a Scaled Agile environment. The primary focus of this role is development of the Biometrics product line. You will be working in an embedded Linux environment, implementing secure and performant applications.

Physical Access Control Solutions (PACS)
HID's Physical Access Control Solutions Business Area:
HID PAC’s Business Unit focuses on the growth of new clients and existing clients where we leverage the latest card and reader technologies to solve the security challenges of our clients. Other areas of focus will include authentication, card sub systems, card encoding, Biometrics, location services and all other aspects of a physical access control infrastructure.
As our Staff Firmware Engineer, you’ll support HID’s success by:
- Developing and enhancing features for real-time embedded system.
- Developing communications protocol drivers for use in our embedded system and third-party products.
- Developing and enhancing network communication mechanisms.
- Porting existing software to new embedded hardware and software platforms.
- Designing and implementing software development and test tools.
Your Experience and Background include:
- Bachelor’s degree desired in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- BSEE or BSCS
- 3-15 years professional experience in C or C++ programming, preferably with Embedded Linux and microcontroller RTOS development.
- Experience in distributed systems and network-based communication protocols.
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Visual Studio and Eclipse development environments.
- Ability to work on complex tasks with minimal technical guidance.
- Excellent problem-solving, design, development, and debugging skills.
- Good communication skills.
