We are looking for a strong, talented individual to support our Finance team with the requirements for a General Ledger Accountant.
The General Ledger Accountant will be based in our Dubai office and will report to the Head of Finance / Finance Director.
Position summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented General Ledger Accountant to join our Finance Team. As a General Ledger Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. You will work closely with the GL team to perform a range of accounting tasks, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analysis,and providing support for VAT return, year-end audit, and other returns. Your contributions will be essential to maintaining financial compliance and supporting the overall financial health of our organization. You will need to be proactive, self-motivated, and happy to get involved with many varying tasks.
Main Duties of Job
• Record, review, and post journal entries to accurately reflect financial transactions in compliance with IFRS and local GAAP.
• Perform general accounting and reporting tasks, including processing journal entries, calculation of accruals, prepayments, adjustments, and processing of allocations.
• Contribute to the timely and accurate completion of month end, quarter end and year end closing process. Flexibility with working hours during the month end may be required.
• Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports, variance analysis, other reporting processes, and reporting of financial results in relevant systems (HFM).
• Ensure adherence to local accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal financial policies.
• Assist in internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
• Perform IFRS 16, Fixed Asset accounting tasks, journals, and intercompany accounting.
• Assist with payroll posting and reconciliations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and participate in enhancing accounting procedures and controls.
Requirements
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience within accounting, bookkeeping, or General Ledger ideally from UAE region.
• Bachelor’s, master’s degree in finance or accounting, Charted Accountant qualifications a strong plus (e.g., ACCA) or Part Qualified.
• Good understanding of General Ledger processes
• Experience with ERPs (SAP S/4HANA will be an advantage) or Oracle etc.
• Practical knowledge of IFRS
• Significant hands-on business experience with accounting functions• Strong commercial and strategic understanding
• Must be fluent in English (oral & written)
• Able to manipulate data and have reasonable Excel skills.
• Ability to maintain the accuracy of accounts to ensure accurate company financial statement reporting.
