Technical Design Engineer

What you would do as our Technical Design Engineer?
As our Technical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, analysis, and development of our facade systems taking projects from concept right through to completion. You will prepare design proposals, budgets, and Gantt charts to ensure products are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in line with customer expectations.
You would also:
- Analyse buildings in detail for factors such as slab deflection, building sway, and long‑term creep to determine product suitability.
- Attend design meetings to advise customers on system capabilities and technical solutions.
- Visit sites to assess fabrication and installation quality, ensuring compliance with manuals and producing accurate, detailed reports.
- Provide technical support to staff and customers on all SAS products, covering fabrication challenges, installation issues, product suitability, and more.
- Produce and update technical manuals for the full SAS product range.
- Assist with the day‑to‑day operations of the Technical Department as required.
- Attend testing facilities to support product testing and performance evaluation.
The skills and experience you need
We are looking for someone who:
- Has an intricate understanding of facades, including drainage, thermal and structural analysis, and system performance.
- Has strong communication skills, with the ability to discuss technical details clearly and confidently.
- Is proficient in AutoCAD LT.
- Has previous experience within a systems company (desirable).
- Can analyse buildings and understands how different materials and construction methods impact facade performance (desirable).
- Are confident discussing product capabilities with architects and senior design professionals (desirable).
- Has strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail regarding installation and fabrication (desirable).
- Can use programs such as Inventor, 3D CAD, Revit, Nastran, WinIso, and Logikal (desirable).
- Has an understanding of relevant legislation and standards, including:
- Approved Document L
- Approved Document B
- Approved Document F
- Approved Document K
- BS EN 14351
- BS EN 13830
- PAS 24
- CWCT Sequence B
- BS 4873
- Structural Eurocodes
