As a Technical Product Manager for Mercury Controllers, you will play a critical role in understanding market needs and ensuring our Mercury controllers deliver real-world value to installers and end users. Leveraging your hands-on experience with physical access control products, you will influence design decisions and guide the lifecycle of HID’s world-class Mercury controller portfolio.

 

In this role, you will support the product management team by gathering insights from the field, conducting competitive research, and translating findings into actionable improvements. You’ll collaborate closely with installers, engineers, and senior product managers to ensure our controllers are practical, reliable, and leading the market. This is a hands-on, customer-focused position—ideal for someone eager to build a career in product management.

As our Technical Product Manager, Mercury Controllers, you’ll support HID’s success by: 

  • Gathering insights from the field by conducting installer studies and competitive research
  • Identifying market and product opportunities – defining key initiatives, requirements & GTM
  • Delivering clear and actionable product requirements and contribute to the Mercury roadmap
  • Working with Mercury hardware daily – optimizing the Mercury requirements and solution
  • Contributing to business case and go-to-market planning for new solutions
  • Effectively managing customer requirements and expectations
  • Monitoring new product performance metrics and user feedback – guiding improvements post launch
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for the development team regarding technical questions and challenges during the development cycle, proactively identifying and mitigating technical risk
  • Creating and maintaining technical product documentation, marketing materials and sales collateral
  • Ensuring all internal and external documentation repositories are current
  • Planning and documenting product lifecycle policies and customer communications 

 

Your Experience and Background include:  

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong background in low voltage electronics – you are a hardware geek at heart!
  • Strong background in physical access control (PACS) and/or intrusion detection (IDS)
  • Product evaluation and/or competitive analysis
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, RFIs, journals and standards
  • Present ideas and projects effectively before groups of individuals – from leadership to devs
  • Experience in-or-around product management
  • Deep understanding of software dev processes, system architecture, data structures & web technologies
  • Strong technical product management background
  • Knowledge of the Mercury product portfolio
  • Background in APIs and software development
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies (Scrum) & tools (Jira)

The wage range for this role considers a broad scope of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range does not account for geographic differentials based on the location where the position may be filled. At HID, it is uncommon for individuals to be hired at or near the top of the range. Final compensation decisions depend on the specific facts and circumstances of each case. 

 

The base salary for CA is $140,000 to $155,000.
