Progress 4GL Senior Developer

We are looking for an experienced Progress 4GL Lead Developer to design, build, and maintain custom solutions within our QAD ERP ecosystem. This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep expertise in the Progress/OpenEdge stack and a collaborative mindset to partner with functional and business teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Design, develop, and maintain custom Progress 4GL programs within the QAD ERP environment
•    Build and support integrations between QAD and external systems (EDI, reporting, third-party tools)
•    Perform code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning of existing Progress applications
•    Translate functional specifications into technical designs and working solutions
•    Manage and maintain OpenEdge database objects including schemas, triggers, and stored procedures
•    Participate in QAD upgrade and patch projects; assess and rework customizations as needed
•    Document technical designs, custom code, and integration specifications
•    Provide Level 2/3 technical support for ERP-related issues
•    Collaborate closely with business analysts and end users to refine requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•    10+ years of hands-on Progress 4GL / ABL (Advanced Business Language) development
•    Strong experience with Progress OpenEdge (OE) version 11.x or higher preferred
•    Proficient in Progress database administration: schema management, data dictionary, indexes
•    Experience with OpenEdge tools: AppBuilder, Architect, Procedure Editor, PDSOE
•    Solid understanding of client-server and multi-tier Progress architectures
•    Strong debugging and performance optimization skills
•    Ability to read, interpret, and modify complex legacy Progress codebases
•    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience

PREFERRED / NICE-TO-HAVE
•    Direct experience developing within the QAD ERP application framework
•    QAD functional knowledge in any module (OTC, Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain)
•    Familiarity with QAD customization tools: QAD .NET UI, QAD Reporting Framework
•    Experience with Progress WebSpeed, REST APIs, or OpenEdge Business Logic Server (BLS)
•    Exposure to version control tools (Git, SVN) and CI/CD pipelines
•    Knowledge of EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT) and integration middleware
