PLM Cloud Specialist
Role Description
We are looking for a PLM Cloud Specialist with strong PLM & Cloud experience to join the Product Data Digitalization (PDD) Services team at ASSA ABLOY.
This role is responsible for the design, operation, and modernization of enterprise PLM/PDM/xCAD services running in cloud and hybrid environments, with a strong focus on infrastructure reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence.
You will work closely with the Global PDD Competence Center, IT infrastructure teams, and external vendors to ensure that PLM/PDM/xCAD services supporting global R&D and manufacturing operate as production grade, cloud enabled services, as applicable.
The role reports to the Product Team Manager – Applications.
APPLICATION & SERVICE CONTEXT
ASSA ABLOY operates a highly decentralized, globally distributed engineering IT landscape supporting a portfolio of enterprise applications used for physical product design and lifecycle management.
Rather than monolithic services, we operate a diverse and evolving ecosystem that includes:
- Enterprise PLM/PDM/xCAD services
- Cloud hosted and hybrid PLM deployments
- CAD, Simulation, and Engineering authoring tools
- PLM integrations with ERP, MES, and downstream manufacturing systems
- Emerging technologies such as Knowledge Graphs and AI/LLMs based product data solutions
This role plays a key part in operating, stabilizing, scaling, and evolving these services, with cloud infrastructure and service reliability as the foundation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DELIVERABLES
- A specific PLM technology is designed, delivered and supported in compliance with customer and IT security requirements, IT infrastructure standards, service management processes and company policies
- Design, implement, and operate cloud and hybrid infrastructure for PLM/PDM/xCAD service and integrations
- Own the infrastructure and service lifecycle of PLM/PDM/xCAD environments (prod / non prod)
- Execute PLM/PDM/xCAD deployments, upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities
- Provide end to end service support including incident resolution and problem management
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring PLM/PDM/xCAD services and infrastructure issues
- Drive continuous improvements related to performance, scalability, availability, security, and cost efficiency
- Evaluate new PLM/PDM/xCAD vendor releases and cloud capabilities from an operational readiness standpoint
PLM SERVICEs & CLOUD OPERATIONS
- Support cloud based and hybrid PLM/PDM/xCAD solutions in compliance with IT security, ITSM, and governance standards
- Execute deployments and cutovers across multiple environments
- Monitor PLM/PDM/xCAD service health and proactively address stability or performance risks
- Provide support for end user tickets relating to infrastructure area
- Providing expertise and support for the configuration and knowledge management of the service
- Maintain documentation, runbooks, Knowledge Base articles, and CMDB accuracy
- Support PLM/PDM/xCAD application teams during upgrades, integrations, and change activities
- Collect and analyse operational metrics to drive data driven improvements
- Build, configure, and manage Kubernetes clusters on cloud platforms using best practices
- Enable seamless application deployment through CI/CD integration and container orchestration
- Ensure cluster security, networking, and access control in line with organizational standards
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for observability and proactive issue resolution
- Optimize resource utilization, scalability, and cost efficiency
- Collaborate with development and platform teams to support cloud‑native architectures
Operational Expectations
- Production deployments typically occur on weekends (approx. once per month)
- Availability required during P1 / P2 incidents as per support procedures
QUALIFICATIONS – MUST HAVE
- 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting PLM/PDM/xCAD services in enterprise environments
- Proven experience operating PLM/PDM/xCAD systems in cloud or hybrid infrastructures
- Strong understanding of PLM/PDM/xCAD service architecture (application, database, integrations, infrastructure)
- Solid Linux administration skills
- Experience with at least one major cloud service (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience with containerized or modern deployment services (Docker, Kubernetes, or equivalent)
- Strong troubleshooting skills across application, infrastructure, and integration layers
- Ability to work effectively in distributed, cross functional, global teams
PLM DOMAIN EXPERTISE (REQUIRED)
- Hands-on experience supporting Teamcenter or similar enterprise PLM/PDM/xCAD systems
- Experience with PLM/PDM/xCAD integrations (CAD, ERP, MES, or manufacturing systems)
- Understanding of PLM/PDM/xCAD release management, upgrade cycles, and production support models
- Willingness to learn and grow deeper in different PLM/PDM/xCAD technologies on the job
DESIRABLE (NICE TO HAVE)
- Solid experience with PLM/PDM/xCAD cloud implementations or migrations or modernization initiatives
- Infrastructure as Code or automation experience
- Working knowledge of ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow)
- Working knowledge of SQL for data analysis and troubleshooting
- Cloud or service certifications (AWS / Azure)
- Foundational understanding of AI concepts and their practical applications
