Data protection analyst

Job purpose

ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions is looking for a Data protection analyst to advise our organization globally on matters related to privacy and data protection and support the implementation of our Data Protection Compliance Program (DPCP).

You will be working with the Global Solutions Data Protection Officer (DPO), out of our Chennai HID office and supporting our Global Functions (GFs) and Business Areas (BAs) across 30 countries to continuously improve our data protection work and take it to the next level.

In this role, there will be a strong focus on creating and maintaining Record of Processing Activities (RoPAs) and performing Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) as an ongoing process that involves collaboration across our GFs and BAs. You will also co-ordinate and manage data protection related projects and tasks in this area as well as, take an active role in the integration of newly acquired entities to bring them into compliance with our program.

Key responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively in a decentralized and international environment to constantly improve the data protection culture across our GFs and BAs.
  • Support the Data Protection Officer (DPO) in implementing the DPCP e.g. develop and maintain processes, templates, guidelines, provide trainings, document records, perform assessments, and other duties as determined relevant to data protection.
  • Support the business with creating and maintaining Records of Processing Activities (RoPAs) under the GDPR, including collecting information to complete them.
  • Perform Privacy Impact Assessments with teams to identify and mitigate related to the processing and ensuring alignment with basic principles of data protection.

General skills and experience

  • Effective and clear communication over Teams and email is essential when working with our GFs and BAs across 30 countries.
  • Understanding the technical and process related aspects of data processing is important for documenting the records. A background in IT with some privacy experience and strong interest in this area is ideal for this role.
  • Prior experience with creating RoPAs in a previous role, experience or interest to learn more about Privacy Impact Assessments.
  • General understanding of data protection and GDPR and related requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree within Information Technology OR IT and Law/Data Protection or similar
  • Familiarity with GDPR, basic understanding of privacy concepts such as data controller and processors, lawful basis, data subjects etc.
  • 2 years of data protection experience in an international company with significant data processing activities, e.g. offering services as a data processor.
  • Highly interested in technology, hold a good understanding of SaaS technologies as well as of information security.
  • Experience with TrustArc (or similar e.g. OneTrust), to store records of processing activities, perform assessments.
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) from IAPP or similar is a plus
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, can translate data protection requirements into organizational or technical requirements and guide teams.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, attention to detail, able to manage multiple projects and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Strong integrity and ability to stand your ground in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country you are hired (India).
