What would you do as our Data Engineer
The Data Engineer plays a key role in strengthening the analytics capabilities within ASSA ABLOY Group, with a strong focus on the Microsoft Power BI and Fabric ecosystem. The role combines data engineering and business intelligence development, ensuring scalable, high-quality analytics solutions that support business decision-making. The Data Engineer integrates data from a wide range of sources, builds robust pipelines, develops semantic models, and delivers insightful dashboards and reports. The position requires a proactive and independent working style, strong technical proficiency in modern data platforms, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the business.
This role reports to the Product owner of Analytics within ASSA ABLOY Group.
You would also:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Power BI dashboards, reports, semantic models, and analytical solutions that support business insight and decision-making.
- Build, automate, and optimize data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric components such as Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines, Notebooks, and OneLake.
- Integrate and prepare data from diverse sources including cloud services, REST APIs, on-premises databases, and third-party platforms, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Define requirements and KPIs together with stakeholders, ensuring data governance, security, performance tuning, and adherence to analytical best practices.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain analytics workflows to secure high availability, data quality, and overall solution performance.
The skills and experience you need
We are looking for someone who has:
- Technical skills: Proven hands-on experience with Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modeling, report development) and strong proficiency in SQL and data transformation techniques.
- MS Fabric: Practical expertise with Microsoft Fabric components such as OneLake, Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and Notebooks is essential.
- Pipeline Development: Build, test, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to move data from various sources to data lakes or warehouses.
- API: Experience integrating data through APIs and working with JSON/XML formats, alongside familiarity with Azure Data Services and general cloud concepts.
- Agile Methodologies: Experience working in Agile environments using tools like Azure DevOps or Jira.
- Data Quality & Security: Implement data validation methods, monitor data quality, and enforce security policies to protect sensitive information.
- Collaboration: Work with data scientists and business analysts to understand data requirements and deliver efficient solutions
This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business value for a wide range of stakeholders. The Data Engineer must be able to collaborate effectively across complex, cross-functional teams and build trusted relationships with both technical and business counterparts. A proactive, analytical mindset is essential, together with the ability to work independently, handle multiple priorities, and maintain accuracy under changing circumstances. The position also requires curiosity, problem-solving ability, and a structured approach to delivering high-quality analytics solutions that support long-term business needs.
