Data & Analytics Business Analyst

 

General Summary:

As a Business Analyst in Data & Analytics, you will Drive data-powered decisions by connecting business needs with actionable insights. You will bridge business needs and technical solutions. Your focus will be on gathering requirements, shaping functional designs, and enabling data-driven decisions through effective reporting and analytics. You will coordinate agile activities such as sprint planning and stand-ups, manage UAT and signoffs, and drive continuous improvements in collaboration with stakeholders and data teams.

As a Business Analyst in Data & Analytics, you are expected to blend domain expertise with technical proficiency to deliver scalable, high-quality data and reporting solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Stakeholder & Business Engagement

  • Identify internal and external stakeholders, gather and standardize requirements, and advocate for new technologies and strategies.
  • Regularly connect with current stakeholders to gain insight into business goals, workflows, and pain points.
  • Propose recommendations for leadership, communicate progress, and suggest improvements to processes and ways of working.
  • Participate in forums to align priorities and share project status.
  • Conduct feedback surveys to assess stakeholder satisfaction and gather improvement ideas.

Requirements & Solution Design

  • Analyze business needs and translate them into formalized designs.
  • Create detailed functional design documents, Wireframes aligned with solution specifications, governance standards, and development processes.
  • Recommend best practices and leverage existing reusable reports and solutions while developing and comparing options to meet business needs, ensuring technical integrity, cost-effectiveness, and supportability.
  • Work closely with source application teams to validate feasibility and resolve case challenges.
  • Participate in solution design discussions and provide functional insights.
  • Validate technical solutions against business requirements through UAT and SIT.

Communication & Documentation

  • Prepare BRDs (Business Requirement Documents), FRDs (Functional Requirement Documents), and user stories.
  • Maintain traceability matrix to ensure all requirements are covered.
  • Act as a liaison between business and technical teams, ensuring smooth communication.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Collaborate with Analytics and source application teams to define BI/analytics strategies and reporting plans.
  • Define KPIs for reports to measure effectiveness and alignment with business objectives.
  • Recommend best practices for reporting and promote the use of existing reusable reports and dashboards to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Continuously assess reporting needs and propose enhancements to improve data quality, usability, and business value.
  • Perform gap analysis between current state and desired future state.
  • Recommend performance, data Quality improvements and automation opportunities.

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Create and execute test cases to validate reporting solutions and ensure quality deliverables.
  • Manage business UAT and sign offs per report.

Technical Proficiency

  • Collaborate with architects and developers to ensure requirement feasibility and alignment with technical standards.
  • Understand data models, Source data, and system integrations.
  • Ability to write SQL queries, analyze datasets, and validate data flows.
  • Familiarity with tools like JIRA, Power BI, Snowflake, or similar for documentation and reporting.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Suggest innovative solutions leveraging analytics, automation, and AI.

 

Qualifications:

Skills:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Business Analyst in manufacturing or IT.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior management.
  • Proven experience with Agile or iterative methodologies for development and innovation.
  • Ability to define multiple solution options and manage projects, including onshore/offshore teams.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, QlikView) and understanding of data governance, quality, and security principles.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Teamwork) and documentation platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence).
  • Strong leadership qualities, proactive problem-solving skills, and ability to deliver independently according to strategy and goals.
  • Technical: SQL, data analysis, API understanding, system architecture basics.
