AI Developer

Role Summary

The AI Developer is responsible for building AI-enabled solutions that create value for the business and our customers. This role takes concepts from the early discovery and pre-study phases and transforms them into working prototypes, proofs of concept (PoCs), and production-grade components.

The AI Developer combines solid software engineering skills with practical experience integrating AI APIs, orchestration frameworks, retrieval pipelines, and cloud services. The ideal candidate is hands-on, curious, and collaborative, able to iterate quickly and work closely with architects and business teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & build AI-enabled solutions: develop AI-based applications, microservices, and reusable components.
  • Implement generative AI patterns: build prompt flows, LLM orchestration, agent frameworks, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.
  • Develop PoCs, prototypes & experiments: transform concepts into working PoCs, validate feasibility and value, and iterate rapidly based on business and architectural feedback.
  • Align with solution architecture & standards: follow patterns defined by the AI Architect; reuse shared capabilities such as vector databases and orchestrators; align with enterprise architecture and cloud strategy.
  • Integrate cloud AI services and partner solutions: work with services such as Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, and vendor APIs; optimize prompts, model selection, and response handling.
  • Ensure governance, security & responsible AI: implement data protection and security controls; support required documentation and risk assessment; build guardrails to ensure safe AI behaviour.
  • Collaborate across the delivery lifecycle: work with the AI Use Case Lead, AI Architect, business teams, and internal AI programs to support smooth transitions from PoC to scaled delivery.
  • Continuous learning & knowledge sharing: stay current on emerging AI frameworks/tools and contribute to best practices.

Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Strong software engineering background (Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript).
  • Experience building cloud-based applications (Azure, AWS, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience using AI APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Claude, etc.).
  • Understanding of RAG, embeddings, vector search, and LLM integration patterns.
  • Experience with APIs, microservices, and DevOps practices.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or Semantic Kernel.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and MLOps practices.
  • Frontend experience for demo UI development.
  • Experience with Docker and cloud-native toolsets.

Personal Characteristics

  • Hands-on, curious, and eager to build and experiment.
  • Pragmatic problem-solver with strong iteration skills.
  • Collaborative and comfortable working with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communicator capable of simplifying technical topics.
  • Adaptive and excited by learning new technologies.
